One week until bow season.....That is all!
I have a newly placed ladder stand in a travel route to a bean field that a couple of real pigs are using. The one we knicknamed Double D is still being seen and he is a real deer for sure. Drop tine off of each main beam. Brow tines that will push 9 to 10 inches. G2's that are in the 12 inch range and a huge body. Six by Four, A very mature and gorgeous deer. Of course the odds in me getting this Pig with a bow is low I've got to try. It has gave me early season motivation like I haven't had in quite a long time. A deer that makes you want to get out there.
Good luck Tim and all you fellas out there in the trees next Saturday morning.
I had two really nice bucks walk up on me while squirrel hunting 3 or 4 days ago,one got within 10 yards of me as I was hunkered down by some walnuts in the creek. It was a straight 10 pointer with long tines and a pretty fair spread (at least 20 inches),the other appeared to be the larger buck, but he stayed further up the hill in the cedars,so I didn't get as good a look not being able to stand up.Both were still in velvet.
My oldest has my bow in Louisiana, been offered a loaner, but I hate getting used to an unfamiliar bow,so I'm not sure if I'm going or not, especially without practicing with it.
Grab that loaner and practice a little bit. I did that one year and nabbed a doe the first time out. I hope mhall takes a camera on his first outing to show us all the stud he bowbagged. Hope it doesn't impact his fall fishing.
Can't wait, deer hunting is the only thing that slows down my fishing.
Worked last two weekends, moving stands and putting up new ones. Scouting early and late from far away and seen a couple studs. Full moon Friday night will not help but afternoon hunt on Saturday should be excellent. Nothing like Henry County at sunset sitting between a bean field and a corn field in a perfect funnel!! Hope I remember my bow!!
hunt in the morning fish afternoon then hunt the evening .
Man....Creek I would love to get this deer, it's a real Dandy for sure. If get him or anything even close to him I'll certainly post a pic or two.
Gotta get tagged out so I can concentrate completely on my fall fishing, lol.
Good luck guys, Creek I hope you and your son nail a hoghead.

Did not see him today, what a shock, lol. I did have alot of action with quite a few deer passing directly under my stand. Passed on two bucks one a nine point the other an eight both traveling together. Had them at less than 10 yards, both about 18 inches wide with decent tine length. To early to even think about a deer like that just yet and too early to pack ice and sweat (LITTERALLY) on a Doe.
Still fun to get out and get the heart pumping a little, other than a little heat and swatting at Squitters not a bad day. Plenty of deer to keep me interested.
Bought me a Thermocell and used it this weekend for the first time. Man, I should have bought one when they first came out. No Squitters, flies, gnats, ......nothing. On sale at BPS for $23 with holster...well worth it.Did not see him today, what a shock, lol. I did have alot of action with quite a few deer passing directly under my stand.
