Hoosier - You probably saw a mother eagle and one of its babies. It takes several years for the juveniles to change colors all the way to the familiar colors we know. The baby eagles will stay with the parents for almost a year.

Just got in from one of the more unusual experiences I've ever had while fishing. And it doesn't even involve a fish.

Landed a Seagull on a Zora spook this year at Put in Bay Ohio, and have had one hit and hook up on a Redfin at Lake Cumberland.

Hey Hershey.........is that Hershey PA? I'm from Hanover. You got the candy, but I got the shoes, potatoe chips and the pretzels:-)

This isn't an owl story but it is a bird story. In the last two weeks I have had occassion to see Bald Eagles on the Ohio River. Two weeks ago I was fishing about a half mile below the Henderson bridge on the Indiana side when a bald eagle came out of a tree and flew across the river and landed on the Ky side. Last week I was fishing on the tail of French Island above Newburgh dam when a bald eagle flew in and lit in a tree. Just after that another large bird of about the same size landed in a tree not far from the bald eagle. This bird was brown with mottled black splotches. I thought maybe it was a female but my buddy said it was a "fish eagle". Both events really made my day. I've been fishing this river for a lot of years and thats the first and second time I've seen eagles in this area. We have seen them around the Hovey lake area. And saw one down around Shawneetown earlier this year. What magnificent birds.

Been seeing a pair just above the Brandenburg bridge for the last couple years. Even seen the male snag a fish outta the water! Pretty cool sight.

Last year at a small lake in southern Indiana my son and I were throwing frog type lures across a large weed bed. My son had a large owl come down and grab his lure. He gave it free line and it flew up in a tree and pecked several times at the lure than just dropped it to the ground. We kept fishing and the owl sat in the tree and watched our lures for several minutes than flew off. I'm so glad it didn't hook him.

Nah, it's the name of my late chocolate lab that used to tag along in the boat. I guess I still use it because I didn't want to go thru the hassle of changing the email address . . . [email protected]. Now I fish with a border collie who comes unglued when you set the hook.

I may have to start a thread to see how many of us take man's best friend to the lake (with apologies to the wife).
