Hello, looking to purchase a reel to mount on my loomis flippin stick. Just wanted some input from everyone before I purchase. I have been seriously thinking about getting the new Ardent Flip-n-Pitch but they dont have a left handed model. My price range is about $150. Thanks.

Bass Pro Shop has a close out on a gold edition Johnny Morris these are a very high end reel most places I have checked only have left hand models remaining sale price $99.00 I bought four and I am very satisfied Bass Pro Clarkville Ind. has some left

I have the johnny morris elite, I believe the gold is about 269.00 you would look at the chrome one darn good reel I have one of those i bought on ebay for 99.00 it was a display, great reel real smooth.

when flipping for bass the the reel is not the most important item, you aren't trying to cast a light lure a mile, just a few feet and the lure or jig is usually a little heavier than something you cast a long way,so the quality and smoothness of the reel is not as important. I like a flipping switch feature on the reel also. You hold down on the line release, pitch your jig or lure out than let up on the release for instant engagement, you don't have to turn the handle to engage the line. I know bass pro shop has a couple of their reels with this feature for under a hundred dollars. I use a couple of old daiwa ex 500's they work fine. Im sure you can find a good deal

I have an older Quantum pro express, I use for flipping only as it is not a good casting reel , it has the flipping switch, which is how I use it, I think it was around 40 or so. LIke stated above you dont need one that will cast a mile but you do need a quality drag system and smooth fast retrive. My best advice get what you can afford and are comfortable with.

I have a left handed Shimano Castaic flipping reel that has never seen the water. I spooled it up with braid and have made some practice pitches with it in the front yard. I never could get use to the left hand retrieve. It was actually easier for me to learn to pitch with my left hand then to reel. ( I know, sounds wierd. ) Give me a shout. The reel is 169 new and other than spooling up and pitching in the yard it is new. I will do you better than 150.

I have a Loomis flippin' stick set up with a shimano curado, the reel is super light, which to me is important on those 12 hour days on the water. Personally, most of the time i use stren sonic braid and abolutely love the set up.

I have an older quantum on my flippin stick also but if you are also going to use the setup for pitching then it doesn't work as well for that.Pitching seems to require a little smoother reel...I also need a reel to pitch with but i haven't decided yet,right now i'm using a garcia 4600c4 that works really well but most guys don't like the round reels anymore...it seems now days you hafta almost break the bank to get a smooth reel.
