Live shad fished on the bottom at the duck pond. After dark is best. You can slop around the slab at the base of the upper wicketts and look down on the smaller pools at the base of the slab to find shad, but it's hell on a cast net. Cats will also hit a plug in the fast water of the upper holes (husky jerk) but it requires wading and usually happens at dusk. Even when the lower gage sits at 9 or 10 and the water looks harmless, it's a great place to get hurt. (Broken wrist, ankle, behind, etc...) If you are a real go getter you can cross the slab and have access to sand island. If you're completly crazy you can hike it all the way to the lower gates and catch some real fish. Leave the beer at home. DNR are friendly, but unforgiving. Hope this helps, and have a safe holiday.
