I know of the rock ledge that comes out of the Kentucky side of the river at the hydros where the concrete tower is on the Ky shore. I'm also aware of the "reef" or "shallow water" area where the lower dam and the hydros meet and form an "L"

Where were these boats hung up?? I've seen a couple of unaware boaters get hung up on the rock ledge that comes out of the Ky side of the river by that concrete tower.

Tyme, yes as you look up river. the pile of rocks between the hydros and the lower dam or what I call rock island. Less than 10ft at the lower gauge and that rock pile or reef is right below the surface. That's where he told me one boat was at. The other he said was closer to the middle of the hydros....scary to say the least if generating..Chuck

Thanks for clearing that up for me. Lots of danger around the lower dam and the hydros.

I'm glad that I now know of at least two of those danger zones.

An anchor mate is a must if you anchor below the hydro or spillway .I e-mailed the corps last year for clarification on the siren .They blow the siren only if they are raising the level ,they blow it fro 30 seconds and at the end of the siren they open up the dam..Seems like they should look and see if anyone is near it and having trouble getting away .. but I don't think they will
