They will all do or say whatever to get in the public's good graces.

He may very well have changed the speech, but I found it very foolish that there was such a large public outcry.

It was a simple, short speech to schoolchildren. The fact that people made such fools of themselves over this just show that we live in a time and a culture where everyone has to be offended or opposed to everything that goes on.

I said it before the speech and I stick to it now that I heard it. There was no reason to make a big deal about a president speaking to schools.

(Maybe it just seems I'm in the middle, but I am very, very hard to the right on most issues - especially those dealing with government, taxation and fiscal policy. I do have some left leaning opinions on some social issues, but in general I am on the right)

You miss the POINT..........

The Department of Education is NOT SUPPOSED TO BE SETTING CURRICULUM.......Period......

In fact......I believe they my have BROKE the law.......

He says it does not matter what Obama talks about because according to U.S. Code 20, Section 3403, the Secretary of Education, or any officer, is forbidden to engage in "any direction, supervision, or control over the curriculum, program of instruction, administration, or personnel of any educational institution, school, or school system."

The group cited the Pupil Rights Amendment:

"It also violates 34 Code of Federal Regulations Section 98.4[c] [1] and [2] that defines psychological testing as:


(1) Psychiatric or psychological examination or test means a method of obtaining information, including a group activity, that is not directly related to academic instruction and that is designed to elicit information about attitudes, habits, traits, opinions, beliefs or feelings; (emphasis added)

(2) Psychiatric or psychological treatment means an activity involving the planned, systematic use of methods or techniques that are not directly related to academic instruction and that is designed to affect behavioral, emotional, or attitudinal characteristics of an individual or group. (emphasis added)

By sending material to ahead of the speech and by promoting after the speech discussions, they are DIRECTLY establishing teaching material.....WHICH is WRONG, and ILLEGAL.
