WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama broadened his pitch for healthcare reform to Americans who have health insurance on Saturday, reminding them that they risk losing the coverage they have under the current system.
A Treasury Department report found about half of Americans under age 65 -- the age that the government Medicare insurance coverage starts -- would lose healthcare coverage at some point in the next 10 years, Obama said in his weekly radio address.
"If you're under the age of 21 today, chances are more than half that you'll find yourself uninsured at some point in that time. And more than one-third of Americans will go without coverage for longer than one year," Obama said.

Young people not having insurance....hmmmm....I don't have a lot to judge this upon...all I know is how things have worked out for me for the past 47 years.
I had insurance until I was 18 of, through my parents...then once I turned 18 I had a job for a couple of years that provided health insurance for me but I never once used it...then I got laid off, times were lean in the early 80's kind of like they are now so for a couple of years I bumped around from one pathetic low paying job to another, none of which provided me with healthcare insurance...then when I finally did land a decent job (I was probably 23 or 24 by this time), I didn't take the insurance because it wasn't mandatory to have it at that time. So I said heck with it, give me the money instead of the insurance....and the honest truth is I didn't have health insurance again until I remarried around the age of 35.
Talk about Kutspuh, that man has them made out of solid brass. Below was just posted on the Insight Homepage:
OBAMA WARNS AGAINST SCARE TACTICS OVER HEALTHCARE
By Matt Spetalnick
MINNEAPOLIS (Reuters) - President Barack Obama warned Americans on Saturday not to be tricked by "scare tactics" he accused his opponents of using as he went on the road to rally support for his drive to overhaul the U.S. healthcare system.

I'm against Obamacare, but there's a big difference between predicting "death panels", and "pulling the plug on Grandma" (as the GOP has done), and citing a Treasury Dept. report. There are lots better examples of Obama's rhetorical excesses than this one...
Yes, as a matter of fact it is all untrue unless he has been calling Miss Cleo and getting the future told to him. His rhetoric comes from a study done on the previous ten years. The reason people lose their health insurance is because they lose their jobs. Most people are under an employer based health insurance. When they lose their job they also lose their health insurance. Big corporations and unions are given discount rates. If the president wanted to reform the health insurance industry he could force the insurance companies to offer those rates to individuals. That study also did not state how long people lost their health coverage for either. It was counted as a loss if you changed employers and waited the 30 day waiting period to be covered under your new health plan. Since the president took office 2.5 million jobs were lost and many people lost their health insurance when they became unemployed. Many more jobs will be lost because of the legislation such as cap and trade that he proposes. Still more jobs will be lost due to his wealth redistribution ideas. I don't know about you but I never got a job from a poor person.
