Ergo, anyone not in the act of fishing on "my" lake is bad.

Also, since we have $40,000 boats, the laws don't apply to us. Because we know those laws were only put there for the other people and we don't need them. Remember, we're fishermen!

I just thought I'd make sure everyone is clear on all this in case there was some confusion.
Funny stuff Creeker....but true. I don't like pleasure boaters (or for that fact dumb bass fisherman) who drive recklessly, don't follow laws, or are just rude......however all people have a right to use the waterways if they have paid their dues. For those of you arguing about headlights...I agree that they are useful, but like I said they are illegal at this point in time. So if you use them don't complain about other people breaking the laws....two wrongs don't make a right! When do you guys think that all those idiots will figure out that beer and water don't mix????

You know I dislike all the boats running up and down the lake but sometime when the bite is slow and a boat come by ,with the waves hitting into the bank with the minnows running around, the Bass turn on.

Right you are! Heck I've been standing in the middle of the Cumberland River in my waders and caught trout right after a boat came buzzing through.

    Re: pleasure boat riders!

Come'on guys I gotta take up for the original poster here a little. The guy was venting, I've done it,you all have to. I don't think he was griping as much about sharing the lake with big boats as he was sharing it with some serious idiots at times. Not all boaters are unsafe but enough are to make a guy vent once and awhile.

I'll be the first to admit it's lucky for me and the guys driving some of these monster tub wave makers that I didn't have an RPG on board cause I'd be in prison right now and they would be bluegill chum. I fish Cumberland alot and have for years. One of my favorite spots on the lake to fish is in Indian Creek aroung Grider Hill Marina. Cabin Cruiser's GALORE. Most of the fellas that Moor there are seasoned boaters and don't feel the need to go past you with in 200 feet with their bow in the clouds, plowing the field. But every once and awhile you will get one that gets everything in your boat and maybe you to real wet. Some people that own these boats really don't realize they are throwing a wake bigger than any barge on the Ohio has ever even tried to do. Some don't care and those and the ignorant give them all a bad name.

Common sense goes a long ways on the water, and some people don't have common sense. I agree also that yes the law says running your lights at night is illegal. But on those dark nights when nobody is around and there are season ending floaters all over the place they sure make it nice. Also a quick turn on and check of the water in front of you could save a life, yours or someone else's. I'm not saying it's right to break the law but there are times that law could be tweaked a little. Just some food for thought. It's
scary to get rocked like that and take water at night. I had a drunk and his wife try to litteraly swamp me on purpose in Brown Creek once, and I had a witness. I had to keep the boat off of the rocks as I was paralleing the bank then run the bilge for almost 10 minutes to get the water out after they went by. He was cracking up when he went by and swirved over by me less than 30 feet when he went past my boatside, and his drunk wife was having a blast to.

Sorry for being wordy I just sympathize with Barry on this one a little. I do still think the guy that planned a tourney at Cumberland on Poker Weekend needs his head examined though.

No I'll not saying I don't get mad, I'll just saying I have been mad at the boaters catching fish at the same time.

It's just as the name say's, travel from area to area and pickup a card, at the end of the event the best 5 card poker hand wins. This can be done on motorcyle's, cars, boats etc. and speed has nothing to do with it.
It's just a fun way for people to get together with like interest and have a good time. The money raised is often donated to charity.

    Re: pleasure boat riders!

Just one more word on the headlights. For turning them on for 5 second burst to check the water in front of you, they are great. Here is the example where I DO NOT think they should be used. While running down the lake, running the lights the entire time, especially when there is a boat coming at you. The boat that is coming toward you cannot see the front navigational light (Red/Green). And because of the Candle Power of these lights, they also blind them as well. It’s the same concept of Hi Beam headlights on a car, most of the time the lights are pointed too far ahead of the boat.

    But again...Just my two cents..
