Anyone out there ever visited the Gettysburg Battlefield. I was there many years ago and went back last year. The new Visistors Center and Musium is awsome. There is a 30 minute (I think) movie about the Battle which is one of the finest tributes I have ever seen to the American soldier. I spent most of one day, just in the Visitors Center.

The Battle of Gettyesburg, July 1-3, 1863.

General George G. Meade versus General Robert E. Lee

Union Army strength 93,921 Confederate Army strength 71,699

Union Killed: 3,155 Confederates Killed: 5,708

Union Wounded: 14,531 Confederates Wounded: 12,693

Union Captured: 5,369 Confederates Captured: 5,830

Union Casualties: 23,055 Confederate Casualties: 23,231

It would be interesting to see how today's media would hanle those figures.

Interesting Trivia: Gettysburg was one of ONLY TWO Civil War battles fought on Union soil. Can you tell me where the other one was? (Hint it was NOT Perryville because Kentucky was considered a Confederate sympathizer state.)
