Sorry for the delay in responding...but e-mail reception was a no go for the past 6 days!
I fished Big Spring Creek (Lewistown) and the Missiouri (Craig just below Holdon dam) with about the same luck (3 fish), although in the Big Spring I caught a huge brown trout! It ran line off the rod and it fought like nothing I'd caught before, so it made my trip. Ran into to a local who said the fishing up there is about over until it turn cold.
The Missiouri is FULL of vegatation. Anything you threw whether a fly or a lure was coming back with cabbage on it...pretty frustrating and it taught me to appreciate the CR...the vegatation we have is nothing compared to their's!
I wasn't there for fishing, but I found the time to do it anyway...the only thing I didn't get to do that I wanted to was pike/walleye fish in the resevior close to Lewistown. I ran short on time and the schedule was too tight.
Mountain lions and bears were something they said I needed to be aware of while fishing Big Spring, which was a little concerning, but other than that I enjoyed my trip and time in Montana. Don't think I could live there...I love KY.
Fall fishing is around the corner...I think our River will kick up again when the temps get cooler.
