    Re: The perfect storm

[QUOTE=HURRICANEBOB;383971]Hey Doug. Where is the corner?

To all: I enjoy fishing Stripers in the jumps, but for the life of me can't seem to find them in the Ohio.

From Brandenburg Ramp to McAlpine. Where are some of the places this tends to happen? I'm guess given the river, its going to be mainly on flats that border the main channel. Any help appreciated.

    Bob,

The only place above B-burg for me has been around the lower dam...both on the gate side and the generator side. I personally have not had much luck guessing which days are best...I don't spend enough days (unfortuneately!) to establish the pattern. Silver Creek on the IN side can be good if it stays up long enough for the water color to clear. Fish it all the way to the small lowhead dam. Springtime has been best for me, but fall can be good if we get enough rain.

Have not tried it myself, but heard Salt River is good in spring. Maybe someone else can help you there.

Between B-burg and Leavenworth, there are a few places, but the fish are mostly white bass. Mulzer's (sp?) gravel company on IN side and another across on the KY side are good at twilight and dawn under the lighting. These are also a good place for bait gathering because of said lights. In springtime, the mouth and first coupla hundred yards of Indian Creek can be dynamite. Occassionally, bigger stripes (10#'s +) will move in here. Further toward Leavenworth on the KY side, there is another lighted mooring area that fishes similar to Mulzer's...the name escapes me now, but it shows on the COE navigation charts.

    Good luck!

    Joe
