    Angry Hosed By the BFL

My Nephew resigestered to fish a BFL on Cherokee last Saturday at The Resistration on Friday they informed him he would have to fish in the back of a boat with someone else he was supposed to be a boater he didn't get a chance at all. My advise to him is to appeal and stay away from the Mountain Division of the BFl, He said he requested his entry back before the start and they refused, saying they did not have enough non-boaters. Sorry i guess i'm just letting off a little steam

That's the way it goes. No need to appeal because if they don't have enough Co-anglers than he would have to split his in the front of the boat with another boater. Next time he will need to have a guaranteed Co-angler to sign up with him to keep this from happening.

If I am not mistaken, is that not stated in the rules? That is the risk you run when you do not link with a co-angler. If there are more boaters than co-anglers, they pair boaters up, but they get equal time in the front of the boat.

You are correct. It's in the rules. I'm going to try the co-angler spot in 2010. I would be glad to sign up with him next year, if he is interested.
It would guarantee both of us spots next year.

That's the main problem with not having a co-angler. I fished as a co-angler this weekend and made the cut. If I remember correctly there were 85 total boats and 4 boat on boat draws. It works the same for a co-angler. If there aren't enough boaters then you are out. At the regional coming up, if there aren't enough anglers for co-anglers they will put 2 co-anglers in the boat with one angler. That's what they have stated in the packet I got after the weigh in on Sunday. I don't think appealing will make a difference. I think it has to be done in a certain amount of time after the tourney.

When you sign up and pay for tournament..you need to read the rules before you put your money down...this situation is covered in the tournament rules. If he was not afforded or was refused to have the front of the boat for half the time to fish his spots..then he had a valid protest and should have filed it at the weigh-in.
