I thought some of you might enjoy reading this little story I posted on another website about my successful hunt this weekend.

The ole PSE XForce laid the smack down on a buck I call Larry. Larry is a typical 10pt that got a little too close this weekend along with a nice 9pt. I was itching for an early birthday present, (maybe I was just feeling better after a round with food poisoning that I got in Florida). Either way, Larry bit the dust and I was tickled to death. I had been getting several pics of Larry from back in the summer on my small farm. After running numerous cams all summer across several farms I had my list narrowed down to two bucks and Larry was on the short list along with Lefty. I was setup on the east side of a funnel between two wood lots where I thought he was bedding along with a nice 9pt. The funnel is located in a low gap that is also choked down from two bigger wood lots by open fields to roughly an 80 yard section of woods along a small ridge. The wood lot where my stand is located has an old hay field to the east, to the west is a clover field and straight south is a newly planted 2 acre food plot which surrounds this 35 acre patch of woods. There are also several oaks in the area which have been dropping. 20 yard shot slightly quartering away shot and he ended up going about 60 yards before piling up. Talk about a blood trail! Of course he ran down into the thickest, nastiest draw on the farm. Thanks to my good buddy Kerry Elliot for coming down to help me get this beast out. While he is not a monster score wise, he was a brute of a deer body wise, well over 200lbs. He had really piled on the weight in the last month or so. I would of never gotten him out by myself. Sorry for the poor quality of the pics but these are from my cell phone. I should have some better ones coming.
