    InvizX vs. XPS Fluoro.

I've heard that XPS has changed over the past year for the worst. I didn't buy any this year because I bought bulk spools of InvizX. I decided I like the XPS a little better because it seems more sensitive. But if they changed formula/companies than I will stick with InvizX.

    Re: InvizX vs. XPS Fluoro.

I have used XPS exclusively for several years and can't tell any difference at all. Have always loved it and always will. I forget where I saw it but there was some independent company that tested in the neighborhood of 30 different brands of Flourocarbon in every category imaginable and the XPS was clearly the best overall flourocarbon based on all the ratings. I don't think the XPS won any category but it consistently was near the top in all of them and all it did was support what I already knew is that it is a great line and I won't change anytime soon. I think it was some on line tackle warehouse that did the testing. They tested lines, rods, reels, all kinds of stuff. The report that I read sounded pretty legit in that they were not biased in any way and really did not care who won or lost any category. They had lines that cost upwords of $40 per roll down to the cheaper Flourocarbon lines. I will say that InvizX scored some of the worst of all of them and the only reason I remember this is my buddy chunknwind is a big InvizX fan and he was amazed when he saw the same report. Most noticeably was how VISIBLE InvisX was under water compared to the rest of the Flouro lines tested and even against Mono. Take it for what it is worth but this is what I know. Me XPS until I notice something has changed. Landed too many good 5+ lb Smallies on 4 and 6lb test to change now.

I used P-Line 2 years ago and Seaguar InvisX last year. I'll probably try the XPS this year.

I think I liked the P-Line better than the Seaguar.

tackletour.com click on review archives then click on lines and you can find all kinds of reviews. There is a #1 and #2 reviews of the flourocarbon lines in there somewhere.

They do independent reviews of all kinds of fishing tackle and stuff.

I actually just read/skimmed through fluorocarbon showdown #2 and it actually looks like the P-Line Fluoro has a SLIGHT edge on the XPS in stretch and deformity. The visibility test was inconclusive. It looks like the Seaguar is definitely not in the same class as the other two.

Interesting that the highest knot strength they could get was with the improved clinch at 78%. I wonder if they wet the line before tying? Before I started doing that, I broke a lot of knots.

As far as line breakage goes I haven't had a problem with InvizX or XPS. I just think from a sensativity stand point XPS is my choice. Now if I could just find it in bulk spools without having to order from BPS and get charged shipping & tax.

The Cabin at Ky Lake has 1000 yd spools of XPS for around $60 when I was there back in the spring. I don't know if they are close to you or not if this helps. I am going to KY Lake Oct 17-20 and will be staying next door to The Cabin so I can bring you some back if you need it and can wait. I live in Frankfort.

Hey, what's up? I'm looking forward to it too. Heck, I'm ready to start now (even though the water is still way too warm). Anytime you want to go, just say the word. I still have your phone number and email if you haven't changed them.

    Re: InvizX vs. XPS Fluoro.

I use a Palomar Knot with plenty of SPIT before cinching it down and never had any problems. I use the Palomar on EVERYTHING including braid, mono and flouro. I Palomar my C Rigs and 3 way rigs on my FNF and never had a case where the line came back un raveled as if the knot came loose. Landed many 5+ pound brownfish on 4 and 6lb test Flourocarbon leader, 8lb Fireline Braid mainline all with Palomar knots with no problems.
