Hard to say without bringing it in closer.
mmm, a coyote or about anything else actually
I know what it is because I took the picture,it is hard to tell because of the shadows from the trees,I tried to clean it up,but it doesn't help.At the time I never had time to zoom in or get a better shot.I put it up to prove a point to a few folks who ridicule others about pictures and what they see in them.I'll tell what it is soon, just want to see what responses I get.
mmm, ok?
You labeled the pic as a black panther. It does resemble one towards the back end but the front looks more like a canine. Shadows are tricky.....Is it the very rarely seen "canther"?
I knew somebody would see the tag on it,it actually is a Black (melanistic) Jaguar. The picture was taken in Belize back in 99'. It took off after spotting us before I could get a better picture.
My guess was a wolf or a big dog. Now I know it was a panther, I was kinda close.
For years it was claimed that no melanistic or black jaguars resided north of southern Mexico, but as recent as 2004 one was documented and filmed in Northern Mexico close to the Arizona border. There have been several regular spotted jaguars documented in Arizona and one recently in Texas.
I'm not saying this is what people see here in Kentucky, but I would never discredit someone unless it can be proved it wasn't.
Canine family- dog or coyote. Both come in the black version.
