never had a shot in my life...dont see a need. people get sick. it happens. what you live from makes you stronger
You are saying what every doctor says, Im just saying I had the shot and got the worst case I ever had! Maybe I already had the virus, maybe not, was I unlucky along with the few who stated it gave them the flu? Everyone who I work with has the same percentage as here, are we too unlucky? I really want your input, you seem to know whats going on.It is impossible to get the flu from the vaccination. It is a DEAD virus. I laugh everytime I hear someone say that they won't get the flu vaccination because they always get the flu right after they get it. The only way this is possible is if there are two flu strains in a given year. Like this year, although you get a flu vaccination, you can still get H1N1 flu strain (swine flu). Although they are coming out with a vaccination for that soon. GET YOUR FLU SHOT!!! Will save you lots of missed work days if you do.
-RichMy doctor says I need the shot but I havent had the flu in a long while and dont want it!
Got mine today and feel fine.
I have been a cardiac telemetry RN for over 8 yrs. We have been seeing numerous cases of people infected with H1N1 over the past couple weeks. Although the treatment for the H1N1 flu strain is the same as the treatment for the regular seasonal flu (tamiflu) the H1N1 flu strain is more severe in its attack on the body. Those at highest risk are the immunocomprimised, elderly, and children. This is nothing new. We have already had swine flu scares back in 1970's, when a vaccination was produced and given. Although this swine flu is being presented as a new thing, it has been around for a long time. And YES, people are DYING from this flu strain!
I highly recommend receiving the annual flu shot, as well as the H1N1 when it becomes available to the public. By the look of it, as we are not even in the flu season yet and we are seeing numerous cases of the H1N1 flu strain, it is going to be a long flu season.
As for contracting the flu from the flu shot, it is scientifically impossible. However, the flu shot does take up to 2 weeks to become effective. This is more than likely what has happened to the people saying they got the flu from the flu shot. Rather, they were either exposed prior to, or within 2 weeks after, and then got the flu. GET YOUR FLU SHOT!

Do you want an excuse or the real reason? Think I will give the real reason. I was developing another medical emergency in my left eye while I was on the computer. Had surgery about a 3-1/2 weeks ago because of a hemorrhage that lasted 8 days; ended up with a lens implant. Yesterday, while working on the computer, it started turning red and became so painful and light sensitive I couldn't see. I was in a major crisis by the time I saw the eye surgeon at 3:30 pm yesterday. Thank God I got there in time and my distant vision will still be 20/20; I'll be fine after I finish with what seems like gallons of eye drops.
Just think, I get to wear my fishing sunglasses without going fishing (they are darker and provide better protection than regular sunglasses (sun-glasses, sun glasses; just want to make sure I get it spelled correctly LOL).
'Scuse the extra period. I don't know what you may find today because my left eye is foggy.
"What you live from makes you stronger." I think I might understand what you wrote but I'll be doggone if I can untangle the logic. What does what you die from make you, other than dead? At least I now know that I can send an online "get well" card to you or a sympathy card to your family.
I think you are just afraid of needles and won't admit it. lol
nah needles dont bother me...but you wont catch me in a doctors office unless i cant physically move...ever
Got my flu shot this morning...some nurses from Central Baptist came to our office, lined us up in the hallway, and mowed us down with needles...that's the first time we have ever had that offered at work, so I figured they must really be anticipating a BAD flu season this year. It was at no cost to employees. First flu shot I've ever had, so we'll see if I get the flu this year.
I asked the nurse if I could have a stick to bite on and a shot of bourbon first...
