I thought I would let everyone know how it went on Barren this morning. I started at about 7am. It was pretty foggy. Tried some topwater around the southern end of the lake. Nothing doin on topwater, I talked to some other guys fishing topwater and they weren't having any luck either. I slowed down and fished a jig and managed a few fish, but nothing big just a few keepers. The majority of the fish came shallow on shallow dropoffs. The fish would just nip at it or pick it up and swim with it. You had to really watch your line. The shallow bite stalled about 10am. I then started flippin docks and pulled several smaller fish. I guess I needed to go to the northern end of the lake. I think the Corp pulling the water might of had something to do with the subpar bite as well. This is just my opinion, I think the lake is getting ready to turn over or already has in the shallows. Early this morning you could smell the odor of the turnover. Maybe it was the eggs I ate? Anyways I don't think it will be long. The temp dropping in the 40's at night will do it fast. I plan on going again Sunday, I'll let you all know how it turns out. I appreciate the advice, I'll have to give that area a try.
By the way, I recently joined the WKU fishing team. We were wondering if anyone would be interested in helping with a take a child fishing day or something along those lines. I am the old man of the bunch, I think I am one of four members that have a boat. The Marine Corps set me back a few years, but what the hell they're paying for it. Just let me know if your interested. Once again thanks for the info and I'll share what I find out Sunday.
