SLOPPY JOES
Can easily double or triple the recipe.
Figure approximately 6 servings per recipe.
Freezes well.
1 # ground beef
½ cup chopped onion
¼ cup chopped green pepper
½ cup diced celery
8 oz. tomato sauce
¼ cup ketchup
1 T. vinegar (or lemon juice)
1 ½ teaspoon Worcestershire
1 T. white or brown sugar
½ - 1 teaspoon dry mustard
Salt + freshly ground black pepper
Brown and drain ground beef. Add other ingredients and simmer over low heat for at least a couple of hours. Serve on good quality buns (e.g. egg bread) with carrot sticks and other crunchy raw vegetables.
Dang that looks like it doesnt need anything to me, all my favorite stuff in there. Thyme, orageno or cummin could be added. I always go to food network and click on Paula Dean for ideas to improve something.
