Fished Barren yesterday from 9:00 until 3:30 and man it was slow, or at lest for me and my fishing buddy. We didn't even get a hit for two Hours and then picked up one short fish on a point. Fished about another hour or so and caught two back to back on a crankbait with one or two hits. There were fish in this pocket next to a creek channel, we could see them, but they would not hit anything. Try a few more spots, that seen to be dead, and went back to were we started and caught some fish there. In all eight bass with two that may have hit the mark, unless we count the chad minnow about one inch long my buddy hooked on a three inch long crankbait. Was a nice day to be floating.

Great job. I went Saturday and battled the wind all day. Only managed short fish and 0 keepers. Probably the first time all year I didn't catch a couple keepers at Barren. If you don't mind me asking what part of the lake did you have most of your luck. Main lake or creeks. You don't have to tell me which creek or part of the lake you were fishing I just want to know why I was so far off the mark. I found some small and larger shad back in Skaggs creek but they were obviously not being bothered by any larger fish.
I also battled the high winds on Saturday. Didn't have much action till around sun down, then it was on! Caught most my fish on cranks, and some on jerks. 4-6ft of water. Also got into some hybrid schools, that was fun.
Has anyone else had any hydrid luck here lately? If so, what part of the lake? Thanks.
Fish on!

fished main lake area and mouths of creeks most fish were in 10-15 feet of water. look for banks with stumbs and brush.
Hey guys, I fished a few hour Saturday thru Monday each day.. usually mid day and wow was it windy on Saturday. I had the worse weekend in some time.. From top water to Corolina... 5 inches of water to 15 feet. All was back in Skaggs since my place is there. I had no keepers and only 5 or six the entire time. Best hit was on a frog in the smart weed. Guess I need to fish after dark! do the fish at Barren slow down feeding when the Core drains the lake. They dropped it like 2 feet in a week. Whats the rush? On Kentucky they bite better when they draw water.. whats the difference? I will be there again Friday afternoon until Sunday. Call me if anyone wants to wet a line or compare notes. 502-419-3210. I am sure Gillman will be there! Fish On!!! Ed
Yes Old Gillman will be there in the morning. Been to Branson MO. with the family and i did get to fish Table Rock Wed.. Did not catch a thing but it was a nice day on the lake, by myself, with only 8 or 9 hits. They would hit and drop it. Well it was better then being at work, so I put my tail beween my legs and came back to Kentucky. Ed I'll going to start up around Walnut and work from there, if I find anything I'll give ya a call.
I may make it up Skagg. The bass , looks like to me, should be going up the creeks after the baitfish. Anyone have a ideal what the storms and rain today and tonight will do to the fish?![]()
I caught 10 small keepers and slots in an hour or so yesterday evening. All were out off the banks on the main lake. Crankbait, shakyhead, jig - where you catch one, you should catch several - find 'em crankin and then slow down.Yes Old Gillman will be there in the morning. Water clear on the river, and i did not look at Peters Creek going into Glasgow on 31E, but Skaggs was muddy. Bite was slow for us, and everyone I talked too up around walnut Creek. The five short fish I caught this morning were all on plactics very slow. My buddy did caught one on a crankbait. I wish that I had read your report before I went this morning
