Guys-
Looking to buy my first fish finder. I have it narrowed down to either a Lowrance x96, Lowrance x50ds, or a Lowrance x67c. Do any of you guys have experience with these units? If so, which one would you go with? Thanks.
Fish on!

right now Cabelas has the X125 for 179.00 and the X135 for 279.00. I would buy either or.
I have lowrance and I am very happy with them
Guys-
Thanks for the input. I checked Cabelas out, and decided on the Lowrance X125. Looks like a good deal for a nice finder. Thanks again! I'll let ya know how it works!

i bought a new lowrance gps/locator in may. it worked for about a month, then the depthfinder went out. i returned it to where it was purchased. they told me they had at least 15 units to return. that was in june. i am still without a depthfinder. my advice to you: HUMMINGBIRD!!!
I just installed an x135 and have used it 3 days and seems to be good.
It is much more powerful than ny old x70a and it to0k me a while th figure out that I needed to turn down the sensitivity and chart speed. After I did that it seems to work well. At higher sensitivity I could see individual small baitfish streeking to the surface (don't know what else it could have been).
I have a Lowrance X125 on the bow of my boat that I dont use much. It works good but it went bad after about 6 months, the alarm goes off even when turned off and stays on most of the time if you turn it on. So I have to leave it unplugged or it will drain my battery from alarm going off.
I have had a lot of Lowrance though and never had any problems so not trying to scare you off this is the only one I have had problems with in the Lowrance line up.
Good luck with your purchase it should work nice for you.

Good to hear from you, thanks for the advice. I just received my Lowrance X125, spent most of the day installing it today and can't wait to use it (hopefully tomorrow). Now, I just need to learn how to read the darn thing! Is your unit out of warranty?
Finally making it back to the Cumberland River with some buddies in Nov. Thought about hauling the boat up there and giving the stripers a whirl one day to get a break from the 12" trout on the river. How's the striper fishing been? Take care.

Finally got the new unit installed and on the water today. After a few adjustments, like turning the sensitivity down, increasing the surface clarity, and turning a few autos off....the finder worked awesome! It was so nice to finally see what was under the water. I found a great brushpile in about 10' of water and just killed the crappies. It was a blast! I was a little worried about leaking around the hole I drilled for the transducer cable, but the epoxy putty held tight! Couldn't be happier! Thanks for the advice guys!

Rich, did you drill a hole below the water line to route the transducer cable?
Yes, was I not supposed to? It's a little 12 foot jon boat, nothing fancy. I drilled right through the bottom, ran the transducer cable through the hole than filled the hole with epoxy putty. No leaks yet, hope it lasts.

Not tryin' to kidnap the thread but I recently bought a Garmin and it went bad in a couple weeks but while I had it never had any complaint... after I took it back I got a humminbird and it has worked well except the screen seems to be very prone to glare from the sun....the garmin never had that.
Is there any kind of filter you can get to put over the screen to reduce that?
