Tyme2fish had a pretty good day at McAlpine. Tyme and his buddy,Knute, launched from the Clarksville ramp at 0945 hours Tuesday 10/06/2009. Lower level was 10.6 feet with 2 feet of dam on the lower gates. Surface temperature was 68.8 degrees.
We started off in front of the bear claws casting for whites with no success. After about 20 minutes we went over to the hydros.
We were catching some small to medium channel cats and then the rain came.
The harder it rained, the more powerful the bites became. Tyme caught a nice 10lb blue followed by a 5lb white bass and then an 8lb blue. All were caught on shrimp and/or chicken liver. The 8lb blue put up the most fight for me. It was stripping line and was doubling over my heavy Catmaxx rod.
I love to catch fish it that river current.
We caught about 40 fish before we left the river at 1500 hours. Rain gear kept me dry but my feet did get wet.
I was pleased to discover that my float switch on the bilge still works. The float switch turned the bilge pump on and it stayed on for about 4 to 5 minutes. Once the auto switch turned off, I flipped the manual switch and the bilge continued to pump for another 3 minutes.
All fish were released but sadly, one catfish was transformed into Sandy Duncan/Sammy Davis Jr/Popeye as the hooked punctured his (her?) eye while I was attempting to remove the circle hook.
