Re: Elnut needs a lot of prayers

Hi Elnut, you dont know me from adam but I feel I know you. I am so sorry to hear of your recent health problems. It seems to have all stemmed from the original operation you had. Is that right? I really have never heard of medical professionals doing the "cold turkey" on someone who is as ill as you are. Weaning off slowly of medication is how I have always heard it done. I have been reading your posts for over a year and have so enjoyed hearing about your fishing trips. So interesting and funny too. You have that dry sense of humour I like. I was touched when you became a born again Christian and joined a church. You are a real inspiration to me. You are an amazingly strong person to have endured so much pain and you dont give up. I will pray for you and this recent health concerns and hope that the end to your suffering is coming soon. God Bless, Margie

There are several checks and balances that can be put into place to reduce medication administration errors. At my facility, the first check is when the patient reports their home medications to the nurse during the admission assessment. Second check is when the MD goes over that med list and checks to continue or d/c the medication. Third check is when that list is faxed to the pharmacy where a pharmacist goes over the list. Fourth check is when the med is pulled from an accudose machine, fifth check is when the medication is scanned along with patient's ID band. And the last check is when the medication is read to the patient prior to administration.

As you can see, there are numerous checks where a med error should be caught. Not all facilities are this thurough on their med administration. This is perhaps why our facility has so few errors.

Good luck, and get feeling better.

    Fish on!

Had a GREAT weekend and with having my son with me all week due to fall break should have no more problems this week. I certainly think the worst is behind me and appreciate alll the thoughts and prayers that have been sent forth my way. Only hope that I can return the favor one day for each and every one of you. Thanks again

Good news Elwood. I hope you keep that smile that I know is on your face. Keep up the active lifestyle as much as allowed...and I know I watched my 7 year old daughter cheer for the basketball team for the Southwest YMCA and yes, everyone keeps score. You keep getting better cause I plan on shaking your hand soon enough. Prolly not on Dec 19th....but strive for some sponsored Float`N`Fly adventures in Jan.
