    Thumbs down Another Rant

    Maybe it's because it rains almost everday, or maybe it's because I have to work and can't win the lottery. Maybe it's because I'm not married to a Beautiful Swedish swimsuit model. Maybe it's because I can't catch my elusive dream 8lb smalljaw, I don't know.

    But here's my rant. We are so far in the hole in this country that we may never see daylight financially. We spend money like we are a drunken sailor on leave in Bangkok and think It's OK. With all that said, WHY ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH ARE WE SPENDING BILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO SEE WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN SPACE. Yea it's cool and all but does it solve the world's problems...............NO!
    Does it feeda hungry child...............NO!
    Does it put anybody back to work.....NO!
    What REALLY are we benefiting by doing this at a time when we are past BROKE?

    And this has nothing to do with Potus either I'd say this if Kevin VanDam was president.

    It's stupid. stupid, Assanine, and did I mention it's stupid, Alright I'm done.

    To add to that....I can't believe we don't lesson the amount of foreign aid we do and bring it home until we can get our own folks taken care of and our own ship sailing in the right direction!!
    Fix the flippin borders!
    Get the illegals legal through the proper process since it expands the tax base!!
    Stop all pork barrel projects!!!
    Make Congress accountable for their actions!!!
    Well that last one is the biggest dream of them all.

    Re: Another Rant

    I agree - HUGE waste of money sending a rocket to crash into the moon just to see if the dust cloud has water in it. If they wanted to be entertained by a big boom and a cloud of dust, drop an M-80 in a mailbox like the rest of us and watch the magic. I could provide a better aerial display with $500 and a trip across the state line to a truck stop in Tennessee that sells fireworks.

    There are much more worthy causes to spend OUR money on.

    Here's another thing I don't get. We landed on the moon in '69...you know, that "Giant Leap for Mankind" deal? Why, if we want so badly to get "back to the moon" can't we just send another manned misson up there, hop out, grab a handful of moon-dirt, and head on back to the house with it? Why could we do it in '69, but can't seem to do it now with what should be a TON more technology than we had back then? It seems more and more to me that NASA is more about preserving the jobs of some high-paid college educated scientists across the country than truly exploring new worlds and using the technology to better ours. I could be wrong. If all it is is a social program to keep them employed, ditch NASA and put them to work on green initiatives to build us battery powered cars, harness the power of wind energy to light up our cities, and gee...I dunno...get us less dependent on foreign oil.

    I'm just saying...

    Unless we need to send Bruce Willis up in a rocket to destroy an asteroid, or Luke Skywalker up to defend the galaxy against an alien empire, spend the money elsewhere.

    Great solution... isn't that a federal crime? Pretty sure it is.. LOL. I know you are just carrying on, but no sense suggesting for someone to commit a crime.

    mhall,

    Actually, seeing what is going on in space very well may be our road to salvation. Did you know, on a recent Science or History Channel show, a spectorgraphical picture of the moon was shown. The results was a huge, and I mean very huge, area of titanium was found at the surface. This would be worth a fortune if it was mineable. Right now, we don't have the technology to do this and it be profitable, but as we continue to consume our own natural resources here on the earth, it is easily fathomable that we will have to look to other sources for our materials.

    As for our government's negative ballance sheet... LMAO... I have to laugh or else I cry. I remember Obama having a huge speech calling out all Americans for having such high debt, in particular credit card debt. He said "we all" had to learn to live within our means. Yet it was just announced a day or so ago that our national debt just reached 1.4 Trillion... yes, with a "T"... dollars. The reporters said that was more than 3 times our previous record. That means previously our record was over 400 Billion. So where do Americans learn to spend more than they earn?? Obviously from their leaders. Of course the leaders decry the "instant gratification" and the debt occurred from that, but they can't resist it themselves. Hypocrits is the word I think best describes that behavior.

    Fish on...

    Re: Another Rant

    A TON of things we take for granted come DIRECTLY from military or Space related projects.

    * Microwave Communication.
    * Satellite Communication/Cell Phones
    * Food preservation,
    * Electronics miniturization.
    * Computers.
    * ARPA-NET /Internet.

    And about 6 BILLION other things we use in our daily life are DIRECTLY related to this funding.

    So I guess it was a complete WASTE of our money.......yea.

    Show me proof and explain to me how going to the moon gave us the things you mentioned.
    I didn't say the entire program of NASA and I definetely didn't denounce military efforts was all bad.

    What I said was SPACE EXPLORATION is a waste of tax payers money and I stand behind that. You say it brought all this good stuff, explain in detail and make us believe it's so, because personally I think that's alot of bullcrap. I edited the last word so his Grumpness wouldn't Zap my post, lol.

    Re: Another Rant

    I'm interested in the food preservation. I'm going to be mad if I find out there is a better method than freezing food or canning it like grandma, mama, 'n me have always done. I hate shelling peas, cleaning corn, and peeling 'maters, apples, and peaches to can. We canned or froze everything that grew in the garden, and everything from the hogs and calves that was edible. It has always worked and the only space that we used was the kitchen sink and cabinet tops. We never worried about it spoiling unless a storm knocked out the power.

    Tell me how I can take a shortcut and use space for food preservation instead of working my fingers to the bone. Does it taste as good and the kind made in mama's kitchen?
