Obama was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize exactly TWELVE DAYS into his presidency. The best I recall is that, during that time he visited his kid's school and announced they were getting a puppy. Twelve days isn't long enough for him to find his way to the White House bathroom without some help.

It is believed that Obama's overseas trips during his campaign were, in part, to solicit the Nobel Peace Prize. He just happened to connect with Morimar Khadaffi of Libya while out of the country. He was heavily courting Muslim nations/countries during those visits. He had spent something like 69 days of actual work as a Senator; hardly long enough to get his feet firmly on the floor of the Senate Office Building and had not yet been elected president but was already acting presidential.

People make jokes about Jimmy Carter because he, too, received the Nobel Peace Prize but it was not until after he left office. He has contributed much to the good of mankind because of his tireless years of work building houses for the poor IN THIS COUNTRY with Habitat for Humanity; a charity which he and his wife, Rosalyn, started. He is still working with Habitat for Humanity. That may not have been the reason for the prize but it was good enough for me.

Carter & Reagan were the presidents during the fight with Libya and Morimar Khadaffi. The first order of business for Reagan was to put a bomb down the chimney of Khadaffi's house and killed his adopted child. The battle was essentially finished and Khadaffi backed off because he came so close to being killed. Khadaffi is the same person who laughed when the plane was blown up over Lockerbie, Scotland and provided asylum to the terrorists who did it. Now during the first eight months of his presidency, Obama has welcomed Khadaffi into the United States as a visitor. I took Khadaffi's visit as a slap in the face by Obama. I don't see that as worthy of a Peace Prize of any kind. jmo
