    Cat or Dog?

Talking with a co-worker yesterday about pets and for the most part we agreed there are cat people and then there are dog people. Which one are you?

I'm a dog lover (Black lab) through and through. Don't have alot of love for cats.

    (3) Miniature Dachshunds, (1) German Short Haired Pointer, (1) Black Lab and (1) Sheltie

A few too many for sure, but this is what we have...my wife is ALL about the dog's! She trains them, does agility with several of them, participates in AKC events, rally, etc...one dog has even earned a title for what they call a "therapy dog" (not quite certifiable float-n-fly-able, but certified none the less, lol), which means she's passed the tests to allow her to go to children's hospitals, nursing homes, etc...this is by far the coolest in my opinion, way cooler than that other stuff my wife does with the dog's.

Incidentally my bird dog truly HATES cats and just about any other varmint that crosses her path.

    Re: Cat or Dog?

I and my wife LOVE dogs. She has a cat and I kick it whenever I can, I've tried to run over it in the yard but dang that thing is fast, lol. Just kiddin..........sorta, lol.

I've owned dogs all my life and they are truely a man's best friend. Their love towards their master has no end or limitations.

    There is an old saying.........
If you locked your wife or girlfriend and your dog in the trunk of your car in sweltering heat for one hour and went to let them out, your dog would be glad to see ya.

    Re: Cat or Dog?

I love cats!! Actually I love all pets but have a fondness for cats as I grew up with them and formed close attachments to them. I found them to be very affectionate and loving like dogs and they always came running when I called them and they even loved to play fetch. I think its all in how you raise them. I like to cuddle my kitties so they are not aloof like some people think they are. Once I move back out West again, I plan to settle down with 2 sister kitties. I had to put my kitty down after 15 wonderful years together. Boy that was sad. Its always hard to lose such a good loyal friend like that.

Are there neither people? If so, put me down for that. Don't dislike them, but have no great affinity for either one.

Man putting your pet down is TOUGH! Had to do that 4 years ago and I hope to never do that again but with being a pet owner it's always possible.

    Re: Cat or Dog?

We have both here on my farm, recently had to put 2 dogs down leaving me with 3 dogs and the old lady has 6 cats. While I don't outright hate cats, they are pretty nasty animals, she lets them in the basement and couple of them are too stupid to use a litter box, they pee and crap on the floor by my french type double door.Cats will spray anywhere if you let them in,they puke up hairballs, they kill songbirds and rabbits, and generally are useless unless you have a good mouser.
My dogs are loyal as can be,will not go to the bathroom near the house, they go over in a field, they guard my house, livestock, and son. They hunt for me,they keep unwanted animals away like possums, skunks, etc.
One herds my livestock to the barn for me.I only allow one in the house and the only downside is he sheds hair and picks up every briar in the county. He would give his life to protect my family or property.Even I can't act like I'm going to hit my son or he grabs my arm and won't let go until I show I won't do anything.
