I'm fixing to go shoot mine directly and make sure she's still on.It's been tempting around here the past couple days with deer moving everywhere,I found me a nice rubline where the biggun' I spotted seems to use regular on my cousins place, bad news is I still don't have an inline, just my plain old Kentucky Rifle, but it's worked in the past.

I am fresh out of deer meat and got me a new 7 cubic foot deep freeze so the first mature doe I see is going down. I hope I get lucky and spot me a mature buck this weekend but the weather in West Liberty looks horrible for muzzleloader hunting with fog and damp weather but the cold snap should have the deer running in heards!!

While all of you are out with the blackpowder, I am going to taylorsville and hunt with the longbow. I already have some meat in the freezer but am looking for more. There is no muzzleloader hunting at the WMA so I might have lot's of room. Plus I can use it to scout for our upcoming quota hunt there.

shhhhh tim dont tell everyone the best time to bow hunt is during muzzle and gun seasons. like you i have the gov land alll to my self during these seasons and the deer flock to them when the guns start going off.

    Re: Smoke Pole

Well, it didn't work out as well as I planned as a few others had the same idea, but I did get to look around at a new area that I don't believe sees much pressure. I am pretty sure that is where we will be during the quota hunt.

Fishincreek, why would I not scout for doe's? I think that the antlerless deer only hunt is probably the reason we got drawn. Besides, I have been hunting Taylorsville since the late 80's and have seen very few trophy bucks from there. Most are killed when they are 2 1/2. Besides, I am not a big buck hunter anyway, I just want to hunt deer. That is why I am in the woods with a longbow and wooden arrows and can't take a shot over 20 yards. I am all about ehe experience and the meat.

Tim T- was kinda pulling your leg on the "scouting for does" thing. I knew you have hunt T-ville for a long time and know that YOU know where the does and and you really need not scout. I hope(for your sake) that I am wrong, but I believe many will be disappointed with that 1st hunt as the last 2 seasons I have seen less deer than ever. I had 3 PP that I wanted for the 1st T-ville hunt, but not for a slickhead- so we opted for Green River.

Do you think the numbers are down? I seem to be seeing as many deer as before down there, but haven't hunted it but twice this year.

I do believe numbers have been down the last two years. I'm thinking the number of does taken that first hunt will be a lot less than they expect.
