Ok boys...this is just about the last straw! Don't know if anyone here has heard about this...and I myself don't have the entire story...but the jest of the matter is this: "A family is suing Louisville Slugger for making a baseball bat that hit a baseball....(are you all ready for this?)....that hit a baseball TO HARD!" I cannot believe this...well I guess I can, because if you can spill a hot cup of coffee in your lap at the drive-thru at McDonalds then you can sue for anything.

Apparently someone's son was using a Louisville Slugger Baseball Bat, the kid had a good eye and nailed it! He was able to make the sweet-spot on the bat to make contact with the baseball and apparently sent a line-drive into another kids head. I'm not sure if the other kid died as a result of this or what injuries he may have suffered...but actually suing the manufacturer of a baseball bat company who manufacturer's a product that is supposed to be of high quality? C'mon!!!! Yiou darned good and well if this occurred during a game that anyone sitting on the bench, the bleachers and even the coaches were chanting to the batter: "C'mon stay in the box! Keep you're on the ball...Knock the cover off the ball Jimmy! Hit one out of the park for momma! etc"

The fact that there are people in this world who would sue over something like this is really disgusting to me...it ALL comes down to greed! Every single last bit of it...GREED! Filthy, rotten, dirty GREED!

I wonder how come I'm never lucky enough to know someone who files these bogus lawsuits...because if I did I would sure as heck look them in the eye and tell them what a rotten peace of scum I think they are...things like this DO NOT make the world a better place.

Final word from me is this..."Mom and dad, if ya'll want a cheap baseball bat that doesn't hit the ball very hard, then why don't you get in that Nissan or Mitsubishi or whatever the make of that foriegn piece of crap is that you all call a vehicle and go buy him one of those cheap forign made aluminum bats?

Just think if these lawyers do well they can go to the next level....Congress. iF they are real good they become POTUS.
Seriously, any judge that allows people like this to get a settlement after a serious look at the case is out of their mind.
Remember people sued tobacco companies for letting them get addicted and not stopping them.

I actually thought they were suing Hillerick and Bradsbury but I'm not 100% sure. Never the less yes it's stupid, it's real stupid. It's part of how screwed up this country has become. That's why I consider lawyers a necessary evil but look at them as scum of the earth, sorry that's just how I feel.

I agree that is there is way too much suing going on. Suing seems to blame everyone else for the persons problems. A person who cant get a handle over their drinking or smoking so they sue the tobacco companies and the bars for giving them too much to drink or providing a product that will kill you over time. People need to stand up and take responsibility for their weaknesses and deal with it head on. I had to quit smoking and I did it cold turkey on my own with no help or drugs or patches etc. Very hard to do but its done. To me suing is like someone just wanting enough money so they dont have to work again. They are no better than people who sponge off the system. They want all that money for nothing. Sounds like suing is like the socialist system some of you talk about. Maybe you already have it down there.

A Montana jury has found the maker of Louisville Slugger bats failed to adequately warn about the dangers its product can pose.
Hillerich and Bradsby has been ordered to pay $850,000 to the family of 18-year-old Brandon Patch. The teenager was killed during a 2003 baseball game after being struck in the head by a batted ball off an aluminum bat while pitching during an American Legion game in Helena, MT.
The Patch family argued aluminum bats are dangerous because they cause the ball to travel faster than those hit off wooden bats. They said Brandon did not have enough time to react after the ball was hit.
Although the jury did award the Patch family money saying that H&B failed to place warning labels on the aluminum bats, they also said the bat was not defective.
Following the verdict, Hillerich & Bradsby released this statement:
“This was an emotional case and we believe the jury responded to that and issued an emotional verdict.
Our company did nothing wrong. We made a bat in accordance with the rules. That bat was approved for play by baseball's organizing and governing organizations. In fact, the jury found in our favor, that the bat was not defective.
However, the verdict that our company "failed to adequately warn of the dangers of the bat" has left us puzzled. It seems contradictory for the jury to say the bat is not defective but our company failed to warn that it could be dangerous. It appears to be an indictment of the entire sport of baseball. Anyone who has ever played the game, or any sport for that matter, understands there are risks inherent in baseball and the object is to use a bat, whether wood or aluminum, to hit the ball hard. Unfortunately, this verdict seems to be a statement on the society we live in today, that everything must have a warning label.
We sympathize with the Patch family over their loss, as we have since we first learned of this terrible accident. But we still believe this was an accident on a baseball field. Perhaps this will give the Patch family some closure. We hope that it does.”

I have always felt that lawyers are the downfall of the North American society that we live. Such greedy, unethical , lowlife parasites they are that they ruin everything they touch especially the ambulance chasers that do all these lawsuits and criminal lawyers. ok now I will stop before I get really going about those liars I mean lawyers.

I wonder if it's possible for a judge to find the company guilty but also at the same time only require them to pay the people doing the suing only one dollar? If I were a judge and had to deal with this kind of bull I would be thinking: "Oh my gawd! Get a life people and don't even think about bringing this garbage into my courtroom again."

This entire deal kind of reminds me of the coach Stinson trial that took place recently...just a tragedy that a death happened, but dag gone man...it's sports, it's physical, tragic things happen sometimes.

I'm going to sue KFC because I ate a piece of chicken and there was no warning label that said that you could choke on a chicken bone.

One would think that; most people would know a bat could hit the ball hard. What about the kid who hit it. If he lifted weights it made him stronger and that would allow him to hit the ball harder.
