i just went through buying a boat from out of state. the paper work will have to be notarized. stamped and signed. it will also have to be inspected, at the sheriffs office.

    Re: New fishing boat help!!!

I ended up talking to the Warren county clerk's office and the lady said that all I needed was a bill of sales (no notarization needed) and the watercraft card from the previous owner (registration). Got all of that and it's done! Thanks for all the advice guys!

By the way, I drove almost to Memphis, TN the other day to pick the boat up. It's great! Took it to Barren and it runs like a champ! I'm so stoked to be able to do some real fishing and not having to rely on others to go fishing (father-in-law). Look for my thread on the fishing report from that day. Thanks again everyone!!!

    Re: New fishing boat help!!!

The only two boats I have owned have come from Tenn. Each time was a hassle. No amount of fact checking and figuring out what you need from the county clerk has helped me out. The ladies that work at the office here in Franklin havn't had a clue either time. You would think that since the county borders Tenn. that this wouldn't be a new problem, but I have had to go track stuff down after the fact twice.

Glad that your registration stuff went smoothly. Good luck with the new boat and watch out for "new" stumps and shallow places as they lower the water on Barren. If you go out in the winter and take a look around it will really help you with your fishing and knowing where it is safe to run when the water gets up.
