I guess I am the odd ball here,I have gotten more limits in the late fall and all winter than I do in the summer, If it works out I Will be on it this weekend. Dynatrak you around?
i love fishing a jig, and growing up fishing the lake, and being close, the lake seems to lend itself to my schedule. when we had our first cold snap this year, my dad and i fished the lake(he lives in danville). we caught a few bass. but like somebody said before, this is also a great time of year to go after smallies on cumberland(i haven't fished dale). but just because you're the only one on the lake doesn't mean its a bad thing. personally those are my favorite days, and usually my most productive.
Wormin, Sunday's open for me. Let me know. i'm dying to get out with you.
We can do Sunday. Just check the lake level and it is at 735, so we still have a lot water to work with. So lets meet at Braynts around 9 oclock. Have not been on Herington for around 4 months so we will kinda be in the dark , but I sure we can put something together.
pm me your number again and i'll call ya later this week to verify time, place.
My cousin catches the fire out of fish at Herrington from October - March. Last month he had some great days and nights catching crappie, flatheads and hybrids. He caught 25 crappie down there on 10/31. He fished for about 2 hrs. The last few nights the flatheads and hybrids have been doing pretty well. He's caught a few flatheads over 10 pounds lately.
I go down there with him from time to time and have done well on crappie. November - first of January has always produced the the weather is cloudy and cooler... Please don't ask where and how he catches them. I don't want to give up his spots and techniques. He's put in lots of time and effort figuring this out over the past several years. I will tell you this... keep an eye on your graph and follow the bait. If you find the baitfish on Herrington you'll be on the fish.
Good luck!
Don't overlook the johnson silver minnow, vertial jigging when it gets pretty cold.
Been on Herrington when the water would freeze in the guides but caught some
nice kentuckys. Rocky main points.
