    BRL Report 11/03

Well guys, it's official, I am a boat owner! It feels good too! Took the new boat up to Barren for a trial run yesterday and she runs great! Headed up to Cook Creek and started off on the primary points there, nothing. Headed a little further in and hit secondary points, BINGO! Was throwing a crank with no success, then switched over to a T-rigged brush hog and that was the ticket. Caught around 10 shorties and two that were keepers. Biggest around 3.5 lbs. Nothing huge, but the fish were a bonus...I was just interested in trying everything out on the boat. I don't have any water temps or anything because I haven't had time to install my new fishfinder....but the water was clear and the sun was out. Fish were in about 6-7 ft of water and they were pulling the lake pretty good. Once it slowed down there, I headed over to the islands off Baileys and try some of the shallow water there with cranks, nothing. Called it quits since I had to get back to BG and pick up the daughter from school. Thanks for everyone who gave me advice on getting this boat, I owe ya!

Nothing like being a new boat owner. One of the 2 best days in a fishermans life, the day you buy your boat and the day you sell your boat because the time in the middle is sinking money into a black hole, at least this is what the guy at Bass Pro told me when i picked up mine 6 years ago. HE WAS RIGHT, NO MORE TRUE STATEMENT SPOKEN EVER

I recently sold a pontoon on Ebay. Got a very fair price (purchased my new boat on ebay too) However, it really was sad for me to let go of that old pontoon, i loved that boat! With children away now it was just more boat than I needed. When the bidding started and I knew it was sold I got an awfull lump in my stomach. Had some sellers remorse. Had a 22 ft starcraft islander I sold on ebay back in 2000. had the same feeling then, loved that boat too.

Elnut you know you are going to miss your boat if you ever sell!!

That is what I've been told. Tell ya what though, I have felt like I've been in a black hole for years because I DIDNT have a boat! I can now see the light (and get to the fish)!
