Really, that is something hard to deal with. I had a boss once that really was trying to drive home this whole idea. I worked at a very, very conservative company... heck they did not even allow facial hair growth until around 2002 or something, but I had a very progressive VP that led our team. He brought in a college intern who had a long pony tail, ear rings, and a nose ring.. and yes I said a "he"!! To me this was way too much. I respected our VP though, and listened to what he had to say, and I read a lot of books about embracing diversity. It has been very hard for me to do so. I admit that freely. The great thing is I have had my life enriched by embracing that very diversity. I guess deep down, I just hope I can help others the way this VP helped me, and maybe help some before they get as old as I was when I finally learned the lesson.
But yes, i would listen. Maybe not follow the advice, maybe not use any of it, but I would listen.

I feel like I'm pretty good about being receptive to diversity, althought there's always room for me to improve...so I was wondering if before you bow out of this thread totally if you wouldn't mind sharing the titles to some of the books you've read?
