DJD, and others.... Guys, listen, I too hate this has happened. Tomorrow is Veteran's day. A day to honor and thank every Vet. for giving us the freedoms to live the way we do, and to have such great discussions.

Just think about this for a minute, it is what changed my mind, because initially I thought the same thing... or maybe in different words...

Principles are what we founded out country on, and hopefully principles are what we live our lives by. Principles are meant to be hard, not easy, to follow. They are meant to guide us not in times of ease, but when things get tough. When we have a moral delimina, it is our principles that we have to turn to in order to guide us, and keep us from making rash decisions. Remember, I am trying very hard to not be rash in many things. I am not saying I am better than anyone, but am using this medium as a way to help me reach a better place.

To the guy who called me a name... remember, calling me names, just flat out insulting me, that is only an indication that you have run out of intelligent things to say.

That said, I want to say it is a good thing you are mad at me, and want to lash out. Why? Because it means I challenged your thinking and you are frustrated, but you are thinking beyond that which is easy. You are stretching your thought process, and that is always good.

I guess my point is, I too wanted to post something almost exactly to what started this, but I am trying to learn, don't react, and instead, respond. Think about this... when a doctor is treating a patient, if something goes bad, he says it was a "bad reaction" and if things are going well, he says "you are responding well" to a treatment. I am trying to learn to respond based upon the principles I try to lead my life by. YOU ALL are helping me by allowing me to post my thoughts, and discuss them with you all.

So, Thanks, I do appreciate your help!!

Hey fanatic, thinks... calling me names means you are running out of intelligent things to say, and that means you are thinking, and stretching your mind.

Your sentence about not hearing about other religions having suicide bombers, I agree. But a while back, Christians sent soldiers on suicide fights to over throw other religions, such as Paganism.

Also, by the same standard you are using, all Catholics, who are just one sect of Christianity, could bring complete condemnation on Christians as pedophiles. After all, I've not heard of non-christian preachers sexually accosting young people. Doesn't mean they don't, but I just haven't herd of it. That doesn't mean all Christians, or even all Catholics are pedophiles. Heck, my aunt was a Nun, she was a principle in Evansville, many, many years ago, of a Catholic church. I can assure you, she was never a pedophile, and I feel very confident in adding, while she was the executive assistant to the Priest who was in charge of their Parrish, if that is the right terminology (I left the Catholic church a very long time ago) anyway, I feel very confident that priest was not a pedophile, and I considered him a very good friend and friend of the family. He joined us for almost every single family get together.

Anyway, what I am saying, let's continue our discussion in a civilized way. I appreciate reading and hearing differing oppinions. I find it helps me learn more, and think more.

Listen, yes... after all, that describes the guy who reccomended you!!! LMAO....

Really, that is something hard to deal with. I had a boss once that really was trying to drive home this whole idea. I worked at a very, very conservative company... heck they did not even allow facial hair growth until around 2002 or something, but I had a very progressive VP that led our team. He brought in a college intern who had a long pony tail, ear rings, and a nose ring.. and yes I said a "he"!! To me this was way too much. I respected our VP though, and listened to what he had to say, and I read a lot of books about embracing diversity. It has been very hard for me to do so. I admit that freely. The great thing is I have had my life enriched by embracing that very diversity. I guess deep down, I just hope I can help others the way this VP helped me, and maybe help some before they get as old as I was when I finally learned the lesson.

But yes, i would listen. Maybe not follow the advice, maybe not use any of it, but I would listen.

Hey man I'm just a semi-educated redneck. I like to sit back and try not to react with my first thoughts and it has served me well through the years....but this Muslim thing has been going on for so many years and nothing good comes out of it. Using examples of how the Catholics and Christians did the same things years ago means nothing to me. These are different times.

Innocent people are being executed and terrorized in the name of Allah. Why should we try to understand something thats abundantly clear? If they pose a threat we need to identify them and remove the threat. All it would take is to pull the heads off of some of these radicals to send the message. They pick on us because we are so smart that we will hold them for years give them medical treatment. lodging and food until some slick lawyer gets them off.

I don't care about political correctness and way back when neither did the majority of this country.

You don't care about history? I seem to have read several times, and on here too, that if we don't learn history and learn from history, it will repeat itself. All I did was point out Christians killed a lot of innocent people during the crusades. Yes, I am a Christian.

I understand that the Muslims are the fastest growing religous group currently today. Add that to the fact that they do have fanatics who are doing heinous things, and we will face a natural fear.

Religion and politics are two of the worst topics to discuss, especially on the internet because it is so tough to share our thoughts in real time, unless we are both online at the same time, and even then, we don't hear each other's inflections.

I think I will just bow out of this one. I can clearly see I am the minority, maybe the singurlarity here.

You of like minds, enjoy the bashing and calls for violence against innocent people, just because they share a religous belief with some fanatic.

    Re: Fort Hood Massacre

There are two different sects of Muslims, those who are alleged to be peaceful and a group that are Radical Muslims. The thing that bothers me about the "peaceful" Muslims is that we never hear that they have separated themselves from the radicals. When you get down to the "nitty gritty" they will tell you, in a nanosecond, that they are all fellow Muslims. IMO that tells me that the peacefuls will not completely sever ties with the radicals. Birds of a feather flock together.

I don't have to look back but 8 years to know the peacefuls provided aid and comfort to the radicals; that is one of the reasons the FBI looked the other way when told about them a few weeks before 9-11 happened.

If a rattlesnake tells you that he is cold and won't bite you. Pick him up and put him under your coat; the first thing he will do is bite you. If you ask, "Why did you bite me after you said you wouldn't," the rattlesnake will say, "You already knew I was a rattlesnake and would bite; that is what we do."

I believe the US is already holding some Radical Muslims under its coat. Our government knows what they do but continue to do NOTHING but put them on a terrorist watch list. I'm afraid we are all about to get bitten.

HD........I'm not going to call you names...............but your views make me SICK.

You're part of the reason our country is crumbling. Being a pacifist will get you nowhere. I will say it again..........WHEN is it OK to protect your own.

WHEN..............another 911, a NUKE in New York.......a chemical attack in Philly or DC.

The Ft. Hood TERRORIST is just that........a TERRORIST. Heal him.............WATERBOARD HIM.......and then KILL HIM.

Final note. There have been nearly 15,000 muslim TERRORIST attacks since 911 on westerners.......I suspect you cannot find a handful of attacks against Muslims.

If he his paralyzed, I hope they just tie him to a post or sit him in a chair for the firing squad. And I want this execution in 2010, not some 20 years down the road.

If he is tried in a Military court, it will be swift and SURE...........and they still have the option of a firing squad, especially during wartime.

    One can only hope.
