I meant to post this earlier but got busy. Went to Nolin today, put in at Wax after waiting on three inconsiderate souls on the ramp. I saw that the water was muddy but figured I would try anyhow. It is too low to go up river so I headed the other way. The color cleared from coffee cream color to just light brown and/or green stain after I got out ot the Wax channel. Fished several places on the main lake and up into Dog Creek but it was SLOW. The temp was 54 to 58 degrees. Caught one 16 inch keeper and three slots in the 13-15 inch range, all on medium diving crankbaits in less than ten feet of water. No pattern, one here and one there. A beautiful day to be out and a bunch of other people thought the same thing--the parking lot looked like it does on a slow Saturday.

Don't feel bad Grump, seems like everytime I go to Nolin, I get WAXED too.
About the only time I hit Nolin anymore is during the June, July, or August white bass jumps. Do still like that lake for bluegilling.
I would love it if a couple great restaurantes opened down there, and a decent good motel.
Bob, now isn't that strainge--I like to fish Nolin in the Spring and in the fall but go to Barren or Rough in the summer. In the winter (after the draw-down) I fish Taylorsville or Green or if I have company I will go to Dale or Ceder. I think we are really fortunate in KY to have so many lakes to choose from.

Nice report Grumpster.
They are droping the water level at nolin very fast. I was wondering if there was a problem with the dam. I have never seen them drop it over 3 ft. One day and over 4 the next. Im going down to winterize my camper this weekend and usually fish while im down but im sure the fish are freaking out with that fast of a drop. Oh well ill wait til things stabilize. I love getting down there after its at winter pool and usually have good luck. Well everyone have a nice day ! Later jc
First2fish, I am not sure why they were holding water most of this month and then tried to get it back on track so fast but it looks like they are done with the fast drop and are back to a normal drop in water level. They were outflowing over 4000 CFS a couple days ago and only 900 + today so hopefully things will stablize by the weekend. Good luck.
