    Lees Ford Area

I'm taking my wife on her first striper hunt. Going down mid December to the Lee's Ford Marina area. I've never fished that part of the lake and have no clue where to start. I know right now to look for the birds but a little help would be most appreciated. She is a non-fisherman but I need her to understand a little of my obsession with the silver demon. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm not asking for your honey hole but just some general suggestions would help.

    Thanks,
    Lumpy

Check out the fishing reports page for Lake Cumberland on this site, as well as reading the reports on the discussion board. Things are changing all the time and the sripers do move around. Current reports suggest they are scattered all over the lake as well as being up in the creeks.

By mid December, the water will (hopefully) have cooled and things will have changed.
    Good luck.

Normally in December you don't have to go very far from Lees Ford. Just head towards the main lake about 3 turns out and you will see a few boats to let you know where they are at. Again normally but that depends on the weather so get updates closer to fishing time.
There are no birds yet still need some cooler weather up north. You get a few here and there but nothing to speak of yet, so you can't ask the birds for help on slow days yet!
If the fish are up there its a good area to fish for them.

If possible take a guide for the first day. I use StriperPhil out of Conley Bottom, "Conley Bottom Striper Guide". He knows the Lake extremely well and guides for a living, not part time. Give him a call on his cell 606-271-2247.

If no guide check back when your trip is closer and I will give you the best advice I have at the time.

Good Luck and have a great time.
