Hi GreenRiverMan, I am not very good at figuring out math at all. Who knew in high school I would need it some day. HA! Ok when I worked for the Alberta Government I made 3,500. per month and they taxed me $750. per month. So you will have to figure out the % of that. Now being a Govt employee up here you are taxed more than the citizen that works for private companies. The Govt goes after their own employees to foot alot ot the taxes but you cant complain too much cuz they have such great benefits like 80% they pay for dental cuz that is not free, they pay 80% of your medication cuz that is not free. You get a good retirement package. Now when I moved back to this area, I worked for the Salvation Army which is a non profit organization and I made slightly less and they taxed me about $500 per month and again I got the same dental and medication coverage with them but no retirement package. They dont have a union and the govt does. I have worked 22years of my life and then went back to school part time for several years and I have never had to pay 1 cent of income tax when they do my taxes each year. I usually get some money back like a couple of grand. Please feel free to ask me any questions about this if it doesnt make sense.
