Today Redneckshadrap and Elnutsmalljaws spent a little fishing on Stoner Creek getting ready for the 2009 Post Turkey Day Invitational to be held this Friday. Elnuts first day on the creek water and what a nice little stretch of water it is. Put in at Frymans just after Billy paid the launch fee at the Bait, Tackle and Art Gallery (never seen one of these). Launched to some 49 degree water with decent color and started fishing just past the ramp
and that is all you get for all you soon to be competitors of the 2009 Post Turkey Day Invitational to be held this coming Friday. All I can say is there was a lot of fish caught, 3 keepers were caught - All Greenfish - and 1 Smallie was caught, which Elnutsmalljaws called his shot on the 24th fish of the day for I said I have had 24 surgeries and the next fish will make 24 and it will be my first Creek Smallie AND IT WAS. Tune in next week for a full report of todays festivities and a re-cap of the 2009 Post Turkey Day Invitational. For just a little nugget of information as to today's pattern it involved a Pink Double Buzzbait, Carolina rig with 2oz tungsten sinker, 10" Power Worm and a plastic pear shaped bobber. You will have to figure out how all 4 of those go together to get the exact pattern of the day.

Water temp varied from 49-47 depending on where you were. We only blanked on one of the spots we fished. Water is low. It could use a lift, but should be fine on Fri.
The new color....El Rednut....is in stage one. Painted the jigheads last night.
A great day on the water. Had a little rain here and there but no howling wind to go with it. Leaves are pretty much gone. The log jam is a doosy up the left fork. It's about 1/2 mile up. Strodes was gin clear up to the the turn before horsehead hump(Hey Charlie).

It's all about details with the pink buzzbait rig. Elnut, you can at least tell the group that the key is in using tungsten. The only drawback is that a 2oz tungsten sinker runs $16.50 if you can catch them on sale. But the tungsten really does make that rig shine!
I will add a bit more to the CURRENT pattern or at least the one that caught them yesterday, we were flipping all the laydowns did I mention ALL THE LAYDOWNS, with a Carolina Rigged, Double Pink Buzzbait on a 3 foot leader rigged with a 2oz tungsten sinker with a Pear Shaped Plastic bobber wrapped 3 times around the main line 33 feet up from the sinker. Let the tungsten sink into the lay downs and then RIP the rig all the way back to the boat. The key was the 36 foot 6 inch rod that was needed to flip the 3 foot leader and 33 feet of line out to the bobber. This was the pattern for Monday, it may all change by Friday.
those snoopy reel/rod combos have some serious backbone, don't they...
I had the only Snoopy Rod, Billy was using Minnie Mouse and Cinderella Combos, but yes they do carry quite a punch on the hookset.
There was spots that Billy had me go to that I was wishing for a nice 4 foot rod, considered breaking the FNF rods in half and only casting with the butt end in some places.
I was afraid to throw my #1 Drum Bait, which is a Red Eye Shad, because I only have about 40 of them to my name and that is only 41 cast worth of baits around what we were fishing, IF I get lucky and get one cast back to the boat, IF not then only 40 cast would have cleaned out my entire stock. I would have just as much luck in throwing a Silver Buddy into this stuff as a Red Eye Shad.
Okay, there is a freak chance I may show Fri. morn. If I can get a boat issue taken care of. What time does the show start? Whats the pot?

That is it boys and girls. We are all fishing for Second place because do we really think we can beat the guy who the creek is named after?
I am picking up Billy at 5:50, will be sitting on the Ramp ready to go just before sunup. Not real sure of the exact time that it is supposed to start. Billy mentioned a Fishing Related item less than $10 for the prize per person, Longest Bass takes all the prizes, 2nd longest gets what the winner brings. Hope to see you there for I would love to meet the guy who had the whole creek named after him. Elnut
Thats funny![]()
