I've got Optimas in my boat, it came with em'. When it's time for new batts I'm going back to Interstate! The Optimas go down very quickly.

AC Delco's are supposed to be good batteries .I had a freind tell me he had 1 last over 10 years an he fished an charged alot . Wish I could get that out of a set of batteries.
I didn't like my interstate batteries either............I think they have a TON of those sitting around when they roll out the boats, and my thinking is they don't spend a whole heck of a lot of time making sure they are good.
I got 1 year out of a my interstate battery.
I'm using the Wal-mart MAXX batteries right now.
Carquest batteries mentioned by Elwood are made by Deka........they are supposed to be the TOP in batteries.

I have Optimas in my boat for a cranking batteries, and there are two of them (one for back up). I am a big fan of Optimas in my truck, diesels definitely benefit from them however I am not so happy with them in my boat. I don't have them on my trolling only on cranking and I have had to swap both of them twice for new ones in less than a year. I keep them charged and use my boat a lot more than the average guy and have a 4 bank charger they have been junk for me. I bought the Optimas because I go 40 miles out in the gulf and did not want to have a failure but now it’s iffy. At $220 I would go elsewhere.
Mhall i have been using AC Delco for 8 yrs. I just replaced the first set. I have never really taken care of the batteries either( boat sat outside with batteries in it not charging). I put a new set in it last year and have not had any problems out of them. The only problem i have is when i bought the last set they have stopped making the 31 series which is what i originally had. My friend had a set of the 31 series last him a good ten yrs. but he does not fish as much as me. Just my 2 cents which ain't worth 1/2 a cent!

mhall I bought an optima for my trolling motor lasted one year. I'm done with them
ac delco= the best
Believe it or not I replaced 2001 model Everstart trolling motor batteries just this year. I never dreamed they'd last this long. I had Dekas in the new Stratos I bought in May of 2003 & they went bad in April of 2006. I used them very hard & they were excellent in my opinion. Also had Interstates in the old Hydra Sport & they lasted a little over 3 years. I think a lot has to do with how well you maintain a lot of batteries & what kind of charger is used on them.
I have not tried the Optima batteries but I have used the AC Delco for the last 13 years, I normally get about 4 -5 years of good service from each set, they start to loose some of their staying power after at that point but still work if you are not fishing in high winds or longer that 6 -7 hours at a time, I am on my 3 set now. I tried the Everstarts and also had problems with them boiling over and filling my battery trays with acid. They also had a lot of corrosion on the battery connections. I don't have this problem with the Delco batteries. I just stay with what works for me.
Everstart MAXX just got 2 @ wal-mart, I have a 12/24 trolling motor and most of the time I use it on 12v, so I rotate the batteries every so often, one of the Everstart I replaced was an 04, never had a problem, I keep them strapped down tight, full of water, and on the charger as soon as the boat gets in the garage, oh I have over charged them and they ran over a little, I have used wal-mart when the batteries were Stowaway can't beat um JMO
