Boat length restrictions

Thinking about buying a 21' boat, but want to understand KY restrictions. I read the boatts can not exceed 18'.6" on kentucky managed lakes?? Does that mean boats longer than 18'.6" can't fish in KY?

I'm sure I'm reading this incorrectly. Can anyone help?

Some lakes have length/hp restrictions at certain times of the year. Lake Malone has a hp restriction from memorial day to labor day. Lake Beshear also has a hp and I believe a lenth restriction. Some water bodies such as pea body have trolling motor only restrictions. Most all of your bigger lakes and rivers dont have any restrictions.

I know Guest Creek Lake had a posting of length limit of 22'. I had a 25' pontoon and I used it on GC and no one ever measured my boat, guess I got lucky.

The main thing is to not confuse state run lakes in KY with lakes run by the Army Corp of Enginers in KY. Most of the state run lakes will be smaller lakes and I guess that the reason for the length/HP restrictions. But this does not mean you cannot use a bigger boat in KY. There are a lot of ACE lakes in KY without length or HP restrictions.
