    Fishing Gear

I was wondering where everybody else, shops for your better deals besides Cabelas, Basspro, Ffo tackle, Tackle Wharehouse. I am wondering is there anything else with good deals out there.

Depends on what I need/want. I have no issue with shopping local, which saves on the shipping costs. I'll go where the sales are for a lot of big ticket items. I seem to be a sucker for a "bargain".

Well, I used to go over to Plapps before they folded. I sometimes go over to Dixie Marine if Fairfield. I like to check out Janns Netcraft. I have bought online there for about 4 years and they have followed through with some good deals for me. I am a rodbuilder and I like to make my own jigs and crankbaits. They have everything I am looking for most of the time and on certain times, free shipping.

I do 90% of my shopping at Tackle Warehouse (www.tacklewarehouse.com) because of their lower prices and dependability. One big PLUS that keeps me shopping there is if you spend at least $50.00, the shipping is free. I'm all about helping the "local" businesses, but their prices tend to be outrageous….and trust me I know – their prices are high because of people like me who shop online!!

"their prices are high because of people like me who shop online?" Please...... prices outrageous??? i havent found a local bait shop with outrageous prices, sure a lil higher becuase they might sell 100 - 200 a year compared to 1000-2000 on tacklewarehouse... soo do the math... they can sell it for a lil less and still come out to the good. The bigger places dont give a crap if they sell anything or not there already rich!!! On the other hand a local boy will have a smile on his face all day because he made some money for him or his family and got to sell some baits to a fellow fisherman. Just my thoughts about! A good example would be Dale hollow one stop.. Family run and operated.... but without customers he couldny stay in buisness.

Fish USA is on line and has good prices, and fast delivery.BPS *****, slow delivery, and lately wrong items shipped. Got a notice from our local post office to pick up a package, it was my one piece 7 ft casting rod. The tube was smashed, and taped, I can imagine why the mail man didn't deliver it.That rod was supposed to be delivered the day after thanksgiving, and I got it yesterday. Am sending pictures to BPS about the condition of the packing tube.WHY did they send a 7 ft rod through the post office, and a box with a reel in it via private groung shipping?

I used to shop at BPS and Tacle Warehouse. I now give all my business to Backwaters here in Lexington. The staff there will go above and beyond to get you what you need. If they don't have it in stock they will order it for you. I can't see giving my hard earned money to a company that could care less if you buy from them or not, even if it cost a few extra dollars, I am going with the local guy every time. Check em out, you won't be disappointed.

Good selections are hard to find here in cumberland county, so its catalogs or trips to nashville[10% sales tax.Plastics no problem, 40 mile trip to bronson. With the price of fuel. I'm limited.Gander mtn is fair, but an hour and a half away.Strange bait will order some stuff for me, but i like to look and feel.

Yea I try to support our local bait shops but wear I live they are few far inbetween, There are a couple places I go but some things I have to shop elsewhere, as for basspro I am not real happy with there sales and other things sometimes. I find myself looking at cabelas more than often now. Thanks for the replies.
