I remeber that day well, we struggled to catch what we did and you whacked them pretty good with your Dad that day. Your Dad got mad that you was catching them all from the front of the boat so you switched and then caught them out of the back as well, just to make him even more upset. If my memory is correct, you caught them that day on pea gravel points with scattered grass around. I know where but won't post that.going with elwood on this one... dale is stingy with her big fish..... but i had a few good days out there last year... actually ran into elwood on one of my best days out there..... memory like a steel trap... it was my dad, father in law and me.....
Funny part of that day for me was that I had my brother in law with me for his second trip to Dale Hollow fishing the fly. His first trip was 3 days during my first week on Dale ever so needless to say I did not know the lake then as well as I do now. We went to the One Stop that morning and I met a guy that new me, because of my Deep V boat, he says "Are you Elnut", then as we are launching another guy behind us ask my brother in law "Is that Elnut you just dropped off in the water", and then taking out You see me. I get in the Explorer to leave and my Brother in Law says, "good gosh son is there anyone down here that does not know you". I told him that you could probably count on 1 hand the number of Deep V boats launghing at Dale in the Winter time so pretty much everybody from the board knows my boat and if I ever bought a different boat then I would be just another guy on the ramp. We go down to Celina that night so I could introduce him to Steve Headrick and I see Bobby Westmoreland and we talk and then see the Late Great Cobby Hayes and we sit down and exchange a few lies. Steve went to get his little girl and when they come in, she runs to me and gives me a hug. Steve shakes my hand and we hug as well as he says his usual "How you doing Buddy". We leave to go get supper and my brother in law tells me that more people in Celina Tn knows me than Frankfort Ky. I laughed but he is probably right. Can't wait until Friday as I head to my "Home" in Celina for 8 days then come back to my "Home" in Frankfort for 2 days before heading back to Celina for 8 more days. 16 out of 18 days on Dale, surey I will catch 1 or 2.
