Float and Fly rod

I think I'm gonna give the float and fly and try, just curious what rod you all like for it?

Cant beat the bass pro shops Microlite 9'6'' fnf rod. I think silstar g-loomis and someone else makes one also but microlite is cheap and pretty good rod. Dont like the g-loomis one 2 much.. too limber, microlite has a little more backbone to it. Just my opinion thought.. hope this helps

All Pro 10 footer is the best by far. I have 2 of them, a G Loomis and a Silstar and overall - no comparison All Pro is the best. It is heavier that the others but when it comes to sticking the fish and getting them to the boat, which is the most important part of fishing, All Pro is the best. I don't know when you are buying one, but I talked to Johnny Poff the managing director of All Pro on Monday and they are coming out with a new version of their FNF rod, trying to get it out this month, which is supposed to weigh 4.3 ounces, which is about half of what I have but it is supposed to perform the same.

Seen those probably what I will go get, wander if they will be any good? Don't really wanna spend no whole lot on it, til I figure out if I'm gonna like and if I can catch any fish on it. This looks like it would be fun to do, from what I have been reading and watching about it

I have a Lexus Silstar that you can borrow if you want until you decide if you like it or not. With you living in Nicholasville and me in Frankfort, we are pretty close as far as exchanging the rod. It even has a new Shimano Solstace 2500FI spooled up with new fireline as well. I can even let you have some 3 way swivels, some of the bobbers that I make and a few jigs to get you started. This will save you some money during the Christmas season to see if you like it or not.

wow!! I appreciate the offer but I went to BPS last weekend and bought me one along with the jigs and swivels! I tried it out last Monday, didn't give it a fair chance, couldn't put my shiners down long enough....But of course I really don't know what I'm doing either, just what I have seen on you tube! I know casting these things is a challenge!!! I'm gonna mess with it some more on Monday and Tuesday

If you haven't seen the float n' fly 101 dvd by Steve Headrick it would be worth watching. I have a copy that I have pretty much worn out and I am also in Nicholasville. If anyone ever wants to borrow it let me know.

I have 2 of the BPS FnF rods (well, 2.5 actually) and, judging by your location, must live very close to you. If you want to borrow one sometime or have an extra seat in your boat, I'd be happy to lend one to you or tag along and show you what little I know.

The BPS fnf rod is really hard to beat. I dont think you need an expensive rod for FnF, you dont need a sensitive rod either, you just need a rod you can get the fly out there with in my opinion. But Im not an expert on this technique, however my BPS rod has suited me just fine.

Not to brag but the Billy Tournament was won on a BPS rod. That being said I like the All Pro because of the extra back bone, the G-Loomis will cast a mile but has no back bone at all in my opion. Silstar has a good back bone but is also heavy so in my opion the BPS is your best buy but I would like to see the new All Pro.
