Filled my buck tag yesterday folks

forgot to post his last night, but while bowhunting yesterday I took a buck. With apologies to the trophy hunters it was a four pointer that dressed out about 130 pounds. It was taken from 12 yards, with a longbow hunting from the ground. It was a spot and stalk )sort of). I saw it from about 75 yards and knew where it was heading, so I beat it to the area.

Nice deer Tim,you had better luck than I did. Had a monster 8 at 25 yards at Tville quota hunt Sunday 7:15 am,when my 7mm mag would not fire!!! Eye to eye for 3-5 minutes, pulled trigger, slide safety, ejected shell, reloaded, pulled trigger again, checked safety, notta!!! Took gun in when I checked out and the game wardens said it had a broken spring in the trigger or something blocking trigger.I FIXED IT ON THE WAY HOME,I STOPPED ON THE **** **** AND TOSSED THE **** THING INTO THE LAKE.The kicker is thats the 2nd time thats happened to me with different guns.I guess the next time I need bring my sling shot!!!

Beaver, did you guys see many deer during the quota hunt? My son and I hunted the first quota down there and didn't have much luck. The only deer we saw all day on the first day was three does that crossed the road while we were at the truck eating lunch. I bow hunt dow there a lot and have seen a few really nice bucks down there, but they are scarce, but there always seems to be big numbers of deer there.

We had two groups of 4 guys in each and saw only 6 total deer both days.Next year we will try a different hunt. The game wardens said they had 237 hunters and only 35 deer checked.Last year we got drawn for the state park hunt and only took 2 deer. The deer over there are real smart. They stay right next to the road and you cant shoot them near the road. After hunting we drove down to the boat dock to turn around and had 15 deer standing in the parking lot.The park ranger was havin a great time watchin us goin in circles tryin to get a shot.I hope I can get a couple more chances with my crossbow or my muzzleloader.Need a few more to fill the freezer and make more jerky. Good luck.....Mr. Longbow

I've told those guys for two years that they have over-estimated the deer numbers. They will not listen. I spoke with them face-to-face and was very polite. Request the harvest numbers on the quotas of 02, 03, 04 and 05. Over 100 each hunt I believe. The doe-only hunt they were expecting a huge number of does harvested(due to their belief of over population). They took 53 and were VERY disappointed. And to make things worse they have another 250 hunters in Jan and that does not include the free kids weekend. They WILL NOT LISTEN!!!!!
