just got my float n fly combo in the mail from punisher
unfortunately my wife want let me have it until christmas
anybody use this if so any likes or dislikes

You just wasted your money because it is nothing but SISSY fishing and what few fish you catch are very little fish. Too hard to cast, too hard to get a good hookset in the fish and basically a waste of time and money. Sorry for your loss.






















JUST KIDDING, Better start smooching up to momma because the best couple of weeks of the season are happening now until about mid January. Tell Momma whatever you have to, buy her some candy or flowers or whatever it takes to get your christmas present early.

Elnut... are you saying that you dont like the rod and reel choice or the fnf in all? because the FNF is a great way to fish in the winter. And it catches much more than little dinks. It'll catch 5 and 6 pound smallies and some real nice ky's. I personally am a big fan of the fnf and i don't think that you wasted your money at all. Good luck out there. Hope you enjoy it.

We won the Billy Westmoreland Tourney, the most prestigous Smallmouth Only Tournament on Earth in my opinion, last weekend throwing the fly. I have 3 FNF rods and will have a 4th next week. Best technique to catch winter Smallmouth that there is today, again my opinion.

good luck with the float and fly its a great method. I tie my own jigs there a great bait more so this year fish the cliff banks. Also try a slip cork a whole lot easier to cast.

Slip cork may be easier to cast but not effective at all in any kind of wind. The 1/16 oz jig can't pull all that line thru to get the jig down below the cork especially with any wind putting a bow in your line plus the slip cork is not stationary versus the FNF bobber that tells you a LOT more than just when a fish takes it under.

I haven't used the thing a lot so far for bass but even croppie fishing it seems to me the bobber just about has to be stationary......the longer the leader the bigger a pain in the but it is to cast though....I tried the slip cork but had to add additional weight to the line to get it to pull through the cork.........I have found the little pear shaped plastic bobbers that the line slips through and have the little twist lock thingy on them makes changing depths a lot faster and eliminates the need for the 3 way fastener and and the leader.

slip corks is the way i go but the first thing is to find the fish and sometimes thats the hardest part

The slip cork does make the thing a lot easier to cast if you can work out the rest of the process.....I just never had much success at getting the line to drop through the bobber.....

it aint rocket science guys,...ive never even done it and i can tell a slip bobber would **** majorly

I agree the slip bobber is a good tool, and has many good applications, BUT the statioary float seems to work better with the FNF.That said, there are many variations of the float, but the biggest hang up is sometimes you have tangles with light jigs in deep water.A couple of years ago I tried using two jigs, And sure enough, two bass grabbed them, thank god they were smaller fish.I still use two at a time, but mostly for crappie. 2 1/16 oz jigs with small tubes could work, because the weight would pull through the slip float. But for me its the 3 way and float.
