Does anyone ever use the ramp at Rowena on Lake Cumberland ? Thinking of putting in there an wondering the conditions , type of ramp , safety ?
Nice ramp, but no dock which I like to have when launching by myself. Area is safe, with parking right at the ramp. To the best of my knowledge, there have been no breakins...thanks to state park rangers being in the area?
Halcombs down by the dam is very nice, well lighted, restrooms and has a small dock at the ramp. Ramp has 4 lanes. Only drawback is that HIKE from the dock to the parking lot. But, that's the way it is a most ramps on LC.
I'm with ya there Boone, as I'm comeing off a broken foot but even I were'nt I still dont like hikeing those steep ramps anywhere . Thanks again for the info ..................
Where is the rowena ramp? That ramp at holcumbs wopuld be great if there was 4o more ft of water in the lake. I launched at grider today, hoping that maybe the smb would cooperate on the fnf, they didn't. Water was sort of stained yet, and temp was aroung 52 degrees, thought the water would be colder than that. There is a ramp at frymans that looks good, but its one of those isolated ones. Ever since I saw what happens at lilly creek ramp, i avoid those isolated ramps.
Halcombs: I have no problem launching my 17 Ft, deep V there, just the long hike up the hill.Where is the rowena ramp? Rowena: From Hwy 127, turn into the road leading to the LC State Park. Go past the "condo entrance" and then take the first road to the right. Take it all the way to the lake shore, where it ends in the water at Rowena ramp.
Smallmouth Fishing: Let's plan on getting together in January for an little LC FNF![]()
I thought that was a private entrence because of the gate house. Let me check my schedule hmmm nothing when ever yer ready let me know, my 17ft deep vee is out of commision, but have a 17 ft john boat it rides rough, I'll pay for the gas.
The road to the ramp is "the first one past the "condo gatehouse". I'll give you a call in January.
You guys enlighten me. Where is there a ramp at Rowena? All I know of is a old road that takes you to the waters edge and you launch at your own risk on regular shale pea gravel bank. Park in the same area and take your chance and I mean take your chances. Heck you might not have a truck when you get back.
If there is a ramp at the Old Rowena road this is all new news to me.
mark, new ramp was constructed by coe after they lowered the lake...nice rampyou guys enlighten me. Where is there a ramp at rowena? they did the same thing at frymans landing, the ramp is ridged so ice is no problem, BUT its deserted, and its just over one lane of access to it. Since I got rid of my 4x4 I have nightmares about meeting another vechicle head on, and tryiong to figure how to not get stuck.
O.K. where is Fryman's Landing ?
