richd4u... when in rome do as the romans. Next time u go west head for the high alpine lakes when they start to thaw and run off. Way back to the waters where trout probabley never seen man. Toss a gold hook between the ice and bank and see if the trout don't tear it it. Can't get more native than an american indian. Caught my share of trout all over these united states. Monster trout to dinks. From flys, nmphs, cheese, worms and hardware. You just got to be smarter than what your fishin for. If you ain't catching trout it aint the waters fault. There out there you have to out smart them. They wouldn't call it fishin if you caught fish all the time they'd call it catchin.

    LOL! Here we go....

    1) "when in rome do as the romans"
-That is exactly my point! I'm in Kentucky, so I learned to bass fish. Couldn't have said it better myself, thanks.

    2) "Next time u go west head for the high alpine lakes when they start to thaw and run off. Way back to the waters where trout probabley never seen man. Toss a gold hook between the ice and bank and see if the trout don't tear it it."
-Don't have to go but a few miles from my childhood home to get into "high alpine" lakes. That is where I grew up fishing. Think I know about that type of fishing, but thanks anyways on the gold hook, I'll pass (I prefer to catch trout). Perhaps the Indian will buy those hooks back from ya?

    3) "Can't get more native than an american indian"
-True (had native american friends growing up), although I'm not fishing for native Americans? I prefer native cutts in the upper reaches of the Uinta National Forrest.

    4) "You just got to be smarter than what your fishin for"
-Lol! That is great! Being smarter than a trout isn't such an accomplishment.

    5) "If you ain't catching trout it aint the waters fault"
-Really...so it's my fault I haven't caughten any trout out of the Barren River? Not the fact that the water is unsuitable for trout and thus has no trout. Interesting theory.

    6) "They wouldn't call it fishin if you caught fish all the time they'd call it catchin"
-Another point where we agree. Excellent.

Love this conversation, really helps pass the time. Take care.

    -Rich
