Question for Cumberland finesse fisherman

I also ran imto those knots, what I did was use a little less line, allowing more lip,and watchibng the line before I closed the bail, but they still happen ,ut not as often./ Most of those knots come out with out cutting , but then when I cut, using two uni knots, and I was back in business. I never noticed any weakness in the line, but they are a pain. I use a least 4 to 6ix ft of flouro for a leader. Less if using a spook or sammy because the flouo affects the action of those baits because it sinks.

Those knots are a pain with the braid, almost impossible to untangle. I also tried to flip my bail manually every cast, and that did help some. I think my OCD wouldn't let me cut the knots out and re-connect the two ends......that little knot in my line would drive me crazy! lol. As for a fluro leader with a topwater, I think it would be counterproductive as it would pull down on the topwater lure? I would imagine that straight braid on topwater would be better with it's great floating characteristics? And visibility not too much of an issue with topwater. IMO

Yes from time to time the dreaded knots do appear. But less frequent than mono or floro. The trick is to not pull them tight . take your time and get a loop started . Then spin it inside your fingers. BUT if this doesn't help PULL it AS TIGHT as you can and then cut the loops off, the beauty of TEN pound spider wire is it will cast just like there is nothing there. the diameter is so small that it will go thru the guides as is nothing has happened. I have fished for sauger ALL DAY beleow a **** and never have a loop. Try that with mono in 15 degree weather....As for the leader doesn't seem to bother small mouth or sauger so the benefits WAY outway the cost. I use a double clinch (cinch which ever it is called) knot on the leader. Make a loop in the braid then spin the loop 5-6 times and pull the tag end thru the loop stick, one end of the mono thru the loop you have created in the braid. Then wrap the tab of the floro around the leader 5-6 times and stick the tag end thru the loop in the floro. put the two tag ends in your mouth and pull all four at the same time,(tag ends and main line braid and floro leader) Cut the tag ends of the floro and the braid. You may add a drop of super glue but not really neccessary. the knot is so small it will cast as if it isn't there. It is smaller than a bobber stop and works great.

Yea straight braid on top water but the question was for FINESSE FISHING .. .
