    Re: Brooks is gone

I meant so so by UK standards, no put down intended. I agree at his age it's probably time to step down, but man he looses a ton this year, don't think for a minute that wasn't at least part of the equation.

Coach Brooks has been awesome for Kentucky, he has done an excellent job with what he has had to work with. One of the few things Mitch Barnyard has ever done right as an AD.

Agreed not alot to complain about with Brooks......but when he was trying to right the ship the naysayers were all over this guy! Now he is just the old man that did very good with a program on the ropes and IMO he should hold his head high! Coaches have a tough job!

One way or the other, we will see some movement when Joker takes over. I'm of the opinion that UK has reached a plateau and will either get better or worse with Joker.

I can honestly say that this season was the biggest disappointment of the last 4 for me. If anything, they took a small step backward.

I'm not a big sports fan...but I'm curious as to why coaches don't seem to stay around very long anymore...is it me or are there some coaches who stay around for a long time? If so do any of you know who they are? It seems like Rupp and Joe B. were at Kentucky for a long time, as Crum was at U of L for a long time. In my opinion if a coach stayed around for a good long while it would make things for traditionalized so to speak. Kind of what desegregation did for the public schools...back in the days before bussing there was all kinds of rivaleries, school spirit, etc...which lead to community pride. Kind of like with these coaches moving on at the drop of a hat....to me it takes something away from a schools program...this is just my two cents worth on the subject.

Yeah those days of Coaches staying with a program are very few. Coach K of Duke comes to mind as a longtime fella.
In all sports winning equals money. If you don't win your gone! Money pulls coaches to one school or another and if you ever win big then your coaching staff will be depleted. Look at Florida they lost offensive coordinator last year, defensive this year and another coach this year (can't remember but he was conditioning or receiver coach).

Mitch B. needs to rethink the whole Joker in charge thing. He was a great postion coach, a good playcaller a few years back with tons of offensive weapons. Ever since, he has coached not to lose, he has taken 3 steps backward as an offensive coach. Its hard to watch him call a game sometimes, I bet you the players feel the same way. Brooks leaving will put UK football back to a bottom feeding SEC team.

Derrick Locke just said that very thing. In fact I think he was quoted by media at saying.

He didn't want to pass on Millions of dollars at the next level and return to such conservative play calling. But would if it changed.

It's rumored alot of the players did not like the play calling this year at all. That freshman that has been starting is talented bigtime at the QB spot. If he is used properly Kentucky becomes very dangerous. He can run not just throw, put some wrinkles in that Wildcat offense and turn him loose, kinda like a Michael Vick deal. Just some thoughts.

I think Joker's play calling hurt them at times this year, especially in the Tennessee game.

I think saying the playcalling hurt them is an under statement. I can think of three games it cost us a W!

I can think of a whole lot of times this year the plays called were ridiculous. Just look at the bowl game, you throw to Chris M. and score the first touchdown of the game, the next time you go to him, he catches the ball, but a pass interferance gives you 15 yards. AND YOU NEVER CALL HIS NUMBER AGAIN! How about 3rd and short, and we line up in the shotgun?
