Nine foot, six weight is a perfect size rod for most any tailwater trout river. It is also a good choice for fishing ponds and lakes for bass. I would buy a good quality reel with a solid drag system. Get you a replacement spool for the reel. On one spool put a weight forward line and on the other a sink tip. With that tackle, you will be able to handle most sistuatuions in this part of the country.
