Re: Colts not playing to win part II

Larry Csonka would run across the field just to run over and step on somebody. The man liked pain. Walter Payton, what a class act.

    Interesting tidbits about Payton.
Never spiked a football in his entire NFL carreer, only handed it to an official after a touchdown.
Was one of the largest contributors both with money and his time with young people in the Chicago and Illini area of any ever Chicago Bear. He wasn't just the inner city guy either he reached out to farm kids to.
Was a avid outdoorsmen. Absolutely loved to hunt and fish and was quite decent at both. Also was a great steward for getting young folks into the great outdoors.

And last but certainly not least. He needed a liver transplant to have a shot at surviving his illness. Because of his fame and who he was they were going to move him way up the list and so he could receive the liver early to increase his chances.
When he learned of this he said NO WAY, other people have been waiting much longer than me for a compatible liver and they are just as important if not more important than me. He died as you know waiting.

That my friends is a real man and one hell of a human being in my humble opinion.

    Mark,
I forgot about that liver transplant decision he made. How much courage and faith did that take? Compare that story right there and then think of some of the hotshot cry babies like T.O. and it will make you sick.
    Great info!
