Hey guys, I got a little problem that I hope someone can help me with. Maybe a simple fix before I drag my boat to the shop.
As most of you know, I fish for big cats during the winter months. I am out there about everyday. I have never had this problem. But, yesterday I went out and it was cold as the dickens. Of course everything on the boat was froze up. After a while it warmer up, so the steering worked, motor started to PEE, and I put the boat into FORWARD gear and we took off. Went over my first hole, dropped anchor and put the boat in REVERSE, well the shifter went into REVERSE but the boat kept going forward. The shifter on the boat will go into forward, reverse and of course neutral..HOWEVER the boat will only go forward. And it starts while it is in gear..as soon as i turn the key it starts going forward. Any Ideas? Thanks Warren..
PS. Had a great day on the cats, 68lber was the best with 2 in the mid 50's, so it wasnt a wasted day.
I had a similar problem, mine was a linkage that kept popping
off, If I snapped it back on it was fine-for a while then it would do it again. I finally got a new plastic connection piece for my motor that the
linkage snapped into (ordered at a boat dealership),
that finally fixed it for good.
Those plastic connections just wera out eventually.
Mine was 20 yrs old![]()
